Memories of our Divine Mother: 21. ANIMALS, NATURE AND HUMAN 1) Claire Nesdale said: In Her attention [In 1992] the Cairns Sahaja Yogis told Her about the problems that were occurring in the area [of Queensland in northeastern Australia]. One of these was the crown of thorns starfish normally living in a natural amount of numbers on the Great Barrier Reef. They are very large and have a body about the size of a dinner plate and they have ten sort of arms that come out from the body. They are all covered in thorns, which is why they are called the crown of thorns starfish. And they live on live coral. And what had happened over about twenty years is their numbers became plague proportions and they moved like a swarm over coral and they eat everything in their path and they leave the bones of the corral there. And the scientists were worried that the Great Barrier Reef would die. So the Sahaja Yogis told Mother about the crown of thorns starfish and She went out in a glass-bottomed boat to see them. She didn't see them, but She put them in to bandhan and said it was in Her attention. They then told Her about the box jellyfish, which actually is lethal and can kill people. And they were having trouble swimming in the bay where the ashram was. So She went into the water of the bay and said they could swim in the water of the bay before ten in the morning and after four in the afternoon. And after that the jellyfish, completely disappeared from the bay at those times and they could swim quite freely. They then told Shri Mataji about the cane toad. And the cane toad was imported into Queensland in the 1950s and it is poisonous and it breeds incredibly. It was brought in from Hawaii to eat the cane weevil, but it doesn't. It has grown to plague proportions and eats small frogs, fish, birds' eggs, small reptiles and it is slowly spreading into New South Wales and the Northern Territory. So She put all these things into bandhan. She said that Queensland does have a problem and that there is so much corruption there in the society, the government and the police force that they will have these plagues. [After Sydney] Shri Mataji then flew on to New Zealand. And on the way back from New Zealand someone from the Perth collective was sitting next to Her. She wanted to watch the news on the internal flight video. And the first item was that tens of thousands of crown of thorns starfish had been found floating dead off the Great Barrier Reef. And the scientists couldn't understand what had happened. This all happened about twelve days after She had been there and put Her attention on it. And the scientists looked into the thing and they found that the proportion of crown of thorns starfish had gone back to the pre-plague proportions. They stabilized and they had not changed since. So the whole problem with the crown of thorns starfish was solved. And the scientists were completely at a loose end as to what had happened. About the cane toads, Shri Mataji said the yogis were to put vibrated water in all the waterways, rivers, lakes, streams of Queensland, to go out and put vibrated water everywhere. And a few months later we read in the paper that the cane toads were developing a viral cancer that had just suddenly appeared from nowhere and they were dying in quite large numbers. They didn't completely die out. Another strange phenomenon that came in the paper was that out of the blue, at about the same time as Shri Mataji had put it in Her attention, lots of birds, kookaburras and crows, were taking cane toads and flying very high with them and then dropping them, splattering them on the ground. And the scientists said they had never seen birds behave in such a manner. The birds couldn't eat the cane toads because they were poisonous and would kill them and yet they were doing this to the toads. And both crows and kookaburras were doing it. The jellyfish kept away before ten and after four and so they could swim in that bay, whereas before they had never been able to. Claire Nesdale 2) Gauri Mehrani-Mylany said: It's all right One of the yogis mentioned that it would be a great blessing if Australia could be drenched with a heavy rainfall as the whole country was suffering drought and as a consequence bushfires were causing havoc in many parts of Australia because of the heat and dryness. In answer to our prayers, it was decided to have a puja at the seaside the very next day. We were only about fifteen yogis at the time and we found a wonderful quiet beach where we could see the city of Melbourne in the distance. Shri Mataji was seated on a flat rock — and we watched in awe — everything was silent. The sea began to react to the vibrations and started to rise and, with a wave of Her hand, She said, "Calm down, calm down. It's all right." And with that, the sea was still and calm. She then started drawing Shri Ganesha in the sand and slowly kept shaping His form over and over again for a very long time. Everything was peaceful and silent — just the gentle ocean lapping the sands. She offered Shri Ganesha flowers, kumkum, turmeric and rice and then the rejoicing words, "Now, after this puja, the whole of Australia will not suffer from drought any more." We all bowed to Her Feet through the cool, salty seawater. It was absolute heavenly bliss. At 4 am on the 20th March 1983, while we were preparing the garland for Her sixtieth birthday, suddenly the sky exploded with a crack of thunder and there it was — rain — torrents and torrents of it and it went on for days. During the puja She announced, "You see, your prayers are answered." The newspapers were headed with a full front page — "Miracle Rain." The whole of Australia, even Ayer's Rock, was blessed with Your heavenly rain. Gauri Mehrani-Mylany 3) Helga Adams said: It will always stay in my memory I want to tell you about the puja I went to with my sister Heidi in Tyrol right up in the mountains [in about 1990]. The miracle I want to tell you about is what happened after the puja that was held in a big tent on the side of a river coming down the valley in Tyrol. Towards the end, a terrific thunderstorm started and the rain was pouring down and was coming in on the side of the tent where the ladies were sitting. Some of them tried in vain to right the tarpaulin to stop the water, but Shri Mataji just waved Her hand and the water ran off the side. As Shri Mataji rose to leave, She made us promise not to go outside the tent for the next half hour, but just to sit in quiet meditation. We heard the thunder and did not see much of the lightning, as the tent flaps were closed. The next morning, we were told by our landlady at the pension where we were staying, never in her lifetime had she experienced such a storm with thunder and such terrific rain and the lightning actually rolling down the main street to the utter amazement of the local inhabitants. They all were very worried about our big tent on the banks of the river and came to help us, but could not believe that the river had not come high enough to touch us. Shri Mataji had saved us and helped us by asking us to stay in the tent for another half hour in quiet meditation. The place where the large tent was pitched was usually the floodplain for when the river came down after such a downpour. This weekend was the only time I had ever attended a puja in front of Shri Mataji and had been able to present a flower to Her. It will always stay in my memory. Helga Adams 4) said: A lightning stroke came to Her Feet I was with Shri Mataji in Vancouver, going from the airport to the ashram where She was staying overnight. As we arrived there was a huge thunderstorm and Shri Mataji said it was Vishnumaya. We arrived in the ashram and Shri Mataji sat down and some of the yogis came to do namaskar at Her Feet. And as they did the namaskar, a lightning stroke came through the room between Her Feet and the people. And the vibrations were absolutely amazing. 5) Douglas Fry said: The result of Her annoyance We were at Shri Mataji's house [in Sussex England in about 1974]. We had been there quite some time and She had gone off on the Thursday or Friday and I think it was either Norway or Sweden. It was up there somewhere. And the day after She had gone, when we were sleeping, there was this most phenomenal thunderstorm and lightning. It really was frightening and awesome. It was so awesome. We knew we were all right because we were in Shri Mataji's house, but it was frightening nevertheless. Anyway, a couple of days later when Shri Mataji came back, She said She was really annoyed with England for what was going on. And the thunderstorm that we saw was the result of Her annoyance. It was quite incredible, absolutely amazing. Douglas Fry 6) Claire Nesdale said: These ganas are always with us I think it was 1992 that Shri Mataji came to Australia. It was very, very dry and hot and we were quite worried. It was about forty-five degrees centrigrade and we thought it might be too hot for Shri Mataji and we were quite worried about the weather. And She was arriving about 2 am Saturday morning. Friday evening, a few hours before She was coming, a big thunderstorm came up from nowhere and there was thunder and lightning. An electrical storm came up. And this was in February or March and it never rains in those months at all in Perth. It is very dry for about four months each year. And suddenly this huge storm came up and it bucketed down and so much water was coming down and the temperature fell about ten degrees, so that by the time Shri Mataji's plane came, it was much cooler and it was quite wet. We asked Shri Mataji about it and She said that the trees were crying out for water, so it had to rain. And the next night was the public program and we were really worried about people coming. And She said that the real seekers would come. And the hall was completely packed and people had been waiting to come to the program with water around their ankles. And the main thing that I would like to say was on the way home, on the way back to Gidgegannup, the ashram, which was about an hour and a half's drive from where the program was, going out of Perth, She passed a whole lot of cars that were stuck on the motorway because there had been so much rain. Cars were stuck on the side of the road. It was still raining quite heavily at this point. And She said, "Oh dear!" And at that point, it stopped raining. And a short time later, a few minutes later, She said, "Do you see the ganas that are coming with us on each side of the car?" And the people that were in the car, Jo Reid and Stephen Taylor and Frank Gianassi, all in the car, and they looked out. And about eighteen inches on each side of the car, just outside the windows, were sort of balls of fire, balls of light — more like white light, about the size of a baseball. And each one — there was one on each side — had a long tail of light that went for about twenty feet. And they travelled with the car for about twenty minutes. And Shri Mataji said, "These ganas are always with us, but this time you can see them." And when they got up to the ashram, there had been a power cut and there was no power at the house where Shri Mataji was staying. They had to light candles all through the house and She said how good that was because it will get rid of all the negativity and She was quite pleased about that. When Shri Mataji went to Cairns, it started to rain when She was there. And then, when She went to Sydney, it started to rain there. And it deluged down in Sydney and the whole of New South Wales. And the whole state had had a drought for about ten years. And that rain, which had started within hours of Her arriving, broke the ten years' drought and helped the whole farming industry of New South Wales. The meteorologists were talking about the phenomenon of that rain when Shri Mataji came and, even two years later, there were articles in the paper about the rain that came to Perth at that time. They couldn't quite work out what had caused the drought to break, because the weather patterns at that time were so odd and peculiar. It was completely outside their understanding. Claire Nesdale 7) Linda Williams said: One with the universal consciousness I have a photo of Mother and about five children around a table at a picnic spot in a game park somewhere outside London. It was a wonderful day and, as we were driving around the game park, I recall two things. Firstly, we were going past some giraffes, which were not too close, and as we drove past they turned their backs to us. Mother explained that the animals felt the vibrations as a cool wind and, in the way of animals, turned their backs to shield themselves from the cold. Mother explained that animals are sort of one with the universal consciousness, whereas unrealized humans are split off from it in their egos and superegos and that, as realized souls, we should be one with it again. Mother also said that when She first married, they went to Her husband's family palace. The family owned some elephants and, as this was in India, that was not unusual at the time. But what was unusual was that when they saw Mother, they all knelt down in obeisance to Her. Linda Williams 8) Bala Kanayson said: She just looked at those clouds On the trip back [from Stonehenge] we had been having some forest fires in the south of England, which had been going on for quite a long time and it hadn't rained. And I was in the car with Mother and one of the yogis was expressing his concern that we were going to lose all these wonderful forests. And Mother's response was that England really had a lot of trees and it really didn't matter. But, of course, being tree lovers, we were a little concerned and he particularly was telling Mother that it was a shame that this fire had been going on for so long. So I saw Mother look out of Her window, the window on the right, and in the distance, up in the sky, there were a few clouds. And She just looked at those clouds and all of a sudden they began to move from the right hand side of the car, over the car, towards, where miles away, the forest fire was raging. And, needless to say, we heard on the news that night that they had had rain over the fire and it had been put out. Bala Kanayson 9) Linda Williams said: They feel the vibrations When Brompton Square was more or less finished, one night some of us slept there with Mother. I had slept a night in Mother's flat at Ashley Gardens and on both occasions noticed the same thing. Often if one wakes early in London in the summer, before the traffic noise drowns out everything else, one can hear the birds singing. But in all my years in London — over ten in all — I only heard the birds singing all through the night on the two occasions I was staying in a house where Mother was sleeping. I asked Her about it and She said, "Yes, they feel the vibrations." Mother has often told us to meditate in the early morning, just before the sun gets up, because the vibrations are good then and, of course, this is just the moment the birds start to sing. Linda Williams 10) Helen Manassey said: The potential to be as great One night after Shri Mataji had been watching a documentary about Lenin on TV, She was getting ready for bed and Her mood was very light and full of energy. It was nearly midnight. She talked about how great Lenin was and how, even though it took him three attempts, he freed the people from the Czarist regime. I then said if he was one person and he managed to accomplish so much, then how come we Sahaja Yogis had Shri Mataji and still we didn't seem to manage much. Shri Mataji said that we all have the potential to be as great as Lenin, but that what stops us is that we don't realize who and what we are. We are of the same calibre as him, just we have to stand up and become our potential. This makes me feel very small, as I feel I haven't even begun to accomplish anything or contribute to Her work at all. Helen Manassey 11) Linda Williams said: The understanding of ants Once Mother said that the difference between the understanding of humans and ants was something like the difference between our understanding and that of the deities. Except that the distance between us and the ants was much, much less than between us and the deities. Linda Williams
