Memories of our Divine Mother: 24. OUR MOTHER 1) Marilyn Leate said: She could adjust to the levels people were at My overall memories and impressions of the times we spent in the early days of Sahaja Yoga with Shri Mataji was of this radiant presence emanating joy and love, who had a commanding personality, whose maya was infinite, whose personality could be strict, loving, playful and contradictory. She could adjust to the levels people were at. A lot of the Sahaja Yogis in the beginning kept asking Her who they had been in previous lives and Mother usually indulged their curiosity. Finding Cassias Clay, Mohamed Ali, the boxer, very cool, the yogis asked Mother, "Is he realized?" "Yes," She replied. "Who was he in his past life?" they asked Her and She replied, "Samson." Marilyn Leate 2) John Glover said: Who am I Mother said to a lad, "Who do you follow?" And this lad said such and such a person and Mother said, "Yes, he is a realized soul, but the question you must ask yourself is `Who am I?'" Mother then asked someone to fetch some kumkum and She put a swastika on his palm and a bindi on his forehead and made him ask the question to himself. John Glover 3) Linda Williams said: The perfect lakshmi Mother had gone to the States to do some public programs in New York and possibly elsewhere. However, Sir CP had some extremely important guests — Arab heads of state or something of that magnitude — and he asked Mother to come home from New York to arrange a dinner. At this time, I think Mother was still living at Her beautiful flat, Ashley Gardens, Victoria. But anyway, I remember She immediately cancelled the New York programs and flew home on the next plane in time to prepare the reception and dinner for the guests. Mother duly cooked for Her husband and the Arabs dignitaries — the perfect Lakshmi — and returned to the States a day or so later to complete Her tour. Linda Williams 4) Phil Trumbo said: She was literally caring for my health I was having a period of illness and fatigue and just generally low energy. I had tried a lot of different things, a lot of different suggestions from Shri Mataji, but was still having trouble with a kind of lethargy and kind of getting sick a lot. And, at one point, She was visiting and She opened Her own medicine kit and took out some prescription medicines that She had been given by various physicians and sort of prescribed for me on the spot what I needed for this sort of lethargy. And they were not homeopathic things. They were Indian prescription drugs that She took and vibrated and shared with me. I mean, She literally took the medicine from Her own kit. And just sort of gave it to me to use and it was great. And it was actually something that wasn't prescribed in America. So that is just one little thing. I mean, She was literally caring for my health with Her own medicine, just as a perspective. Phil Trumbo 5) Linda Williams said: She is good on the video isn't She Mother always miraculously had time for us and the local Sahaja Yogis were invited round to [Her flat on] Warwick Road [in Earls Court, London] to spend a bit of time with Mother. It was the first occasion anyone had videoed Mother and we watched the tape of a program She had conducted in New York. Mother watched too and said, in all innocence, "This Mataji, She is good on the video, isn't She?" It was so candid, so sincere, I realized Mother is much, much more than the Mataji we see, as She had once said to me. Mother was watching an infinite part of Her vast being on the TV. Linda Williams 6) John Glover said: This is a good one When people give Mother pictures of Herself, Mother admires it and sometimes says, "Oh, this is quite a good one." John Glover 7) John Firth said: It must be working now Someone would always take their tape recorder to record the talks and one time I didn't think it was working very well. Anyway, I put the tape recorder right near where Mother would sit. Sometime later She came in and sat down, started Her speech and plonked Her bag right on top of the machine. I thought, "Oh well, it must be working now." John Firth 8) Mitesh Ghandi said: She felt my heart This experience happened fairly early on in my Sahaja path, after I had been in Sahaja Yoga for six or seven months and this was about three years ago. Shri Mataji was coming to London for the Royal Albert Hall program. In those days I didn't have any sense of the protocol and when I was invited by our local centre leader to come along and meet Her, I went along in a tracksuit bottom and torn jumper. When I arrived at the airport everyone was there in suits and nicely gelled hair and I looked really scruffy. I was so anxious to see Mother because I knew She was the Adi Shakti and I had never seen Her before. There was a feeling in my heart of absolute excitement and elation and joy, was so bubbling to see Her. And as I got the opportunity to present the flowers to Her, I went up to Her and She said, "Look everyone, this boy is a real Sahaja Yogi." I went up to Her and was completely taken aback by this. I think maybe She felt my heart. I don't know how good my vibrations were, but She must have felt the love in my heart because we are connected to Her. She must have felt that. And I presented the flowers to Her and spontaneously I said, "Jai Shri Parvati Mata." And She looked at me in a solemn way and slightly nodded in agreement and then I walked away, but that feeling will always remain with me. At that moment, I didn't know that England was the heart of the universe and that the consort of Siva was Parvati. It just sort of came out. Mitesh Ghandi 9) Alan Pereira said: I couldn't talk to anyone In 1999 when Mother came to the Royal Albert Hall, I had the fortune of being allowed to massage Her Feet. She just asked me to massage it and, after a very tiring experience of trying to help with things at the Albert Hall, I felt quite tired and then happy to massage Mother's Feet, which was just a wonderful experience and I think we spent over an hour massaging Her right foot. And it was tremendous. I never forget. I went home. I couldn't talk to anyone. I was just so breathless with excitement and I just got home and I could barely tell Claire, my wife, about it and I just said, "I've just got to go to bed." And it absolutely exhausted me and I went to bed and slept for twelve hours nonstop. Alan Pereira 10) Alan Richards said: The neighbours were really blessed As I walked along the road where Shri Mataji was staying [in Alleyn Park in London in 1986] I felt that the neighbours were really blessed. The trees seemed so beautiful and what I saw had the magic quality that comes from Mother's proximity. On arriving at the house, I met David Prole and we waited for Shri Mataji. It wasn't long until She came. She welcomed us warmly. The maya started straight away as She was discussing entering for a Reader's Digest prize draw where you could win a lot of money, but it seemed you had to enter a record club and accept some horrible records every month. Shri Mataji talked about the wealth of India in former times; how unimaginably wealthy India was, with buckets full of gold, rubies, diamond and emeralds. She also told us stories about Shivaji — the frog in the stone, the mango abscess on Ramdas's leg and the tigress's milk. We had a great architecture session when we looked at the plans for Shudy Camps and for Shri Mataji's house [Pratisthan] in Pune. Alan Richards 11) Avdhut Pai said: A question of attention And there was also an experience in Delhi the same year, 1979, February. There was a big house and one room was for Shri Mataji and the other rooms we were staying. Some of the English Sahaja Yogi, Yoginis were there also and outside there was a big pendal and in that we used to have public programs every evening. And one afternoon, Mrs. Raolbai, she said — there was a Mr. Deole and myself — "Mother is calling you. She is having a lot of problem with Her left ear." We said, "Oh, what was the problem?" So we went and She was really moaning with pain and everything and I didn't know what to do. She said, "Okay, put your hands in my ears and things, put some oil with garlic and everything." We said, "Now what's going to happen? Should we take Her to the hospital or doctor? Should we call the doctor?" And what happened was it went on and on till about six, six-thirty when somebody came, said, "Mother, everybody is ready outside. People have gathered and they're waiting for You." She said, "Ah, okay, okay." So She asked us to just to go out. She dressed in five minutes. Fully dressed, She came out. And at about quarter to seven, seven, She came out. She gave Her talk. And there was about, should be about — I don't know — sixty, eighty people, new people, that'd come. Everybody went at Her Feet and at that time it was a custom that all the old people, old Sahaja Yogis, of course, used to go on Mother's Feet at end. So it took about, I don't know, eleven, eleven-thirty, something like that. And I was always looking at Mother's — Mother's face. She never showed even a sign that She had a pain in Her ear, that Her ear was paining or anything. I didn't understand why. I said, "Either there was no pain or the pain vanished." And it was always in my mind and after about two years I had an opportunity to ask Shri Mataji, "What was it? Did you really have a pain at that time or what happened?" Said, "Yes, yes, I remember." She says, "It's all My question of My attention. Whenever I am having the pain, My attention was on the pain. And when there was this public program, My attention was on the new people. It was on the Sahaja Yogis. So when my attention is not there, that thing doesn't exist for Me." Avdhut Pai 12) Chris Marlow said: The fragrance was incredible I was with a friend. He wasn't a Sahaja Yogi, but he was sort of interested and we'd been out for a pizza in Camden Town [in North London] and we were just walking through the back streets, talking about Sahaj Yoga and what it was all about. And we suddenly got struck by this incredible smell of roses, very powerful. We went, "Wow, that is fantastic." And we looked around to see where it was coming from. We looked in the bushes, in the grass and everything around. It wasn't coming from anywhere and suddenly we looked up and realized we were standing right outside Darwin Court and at that time Shri Mataji had moved into Darwin Court for a short period of time and She was probably up there right at that moment. So I told him that it was a well-known phenomenon that Her presence was pervaded with the smell of roses. It was a very intense smell and it certainly wasn't coming from anywhere localized. Chris Marlow 13) Brigitte Saugstad said: On the 13th of October 1987, Shri Mataji blessed the Gumpi ashram in Vienna with Her visit. She kindly allowed the ladies of the ashram to wash Her Lotus Feet, after which we offered Her some rose-oil perfume, bought in India, to put on Her Feet. Shri Mataji put some on the back of Her hand and told us all to smell the backs of our own hands. Everybody could clearly smell there the scent of the perfume. "Now you have to believe that you are all in My body," Shri Mataji said to us. We were all amazed and delighted. Brigitte Saugstad 14) John Glover said: Mother's sari brushed past someone's micklemass daisy and Mother said, "Oh, now you'll start becoming centred." Mother said, have we noticed that all the daffodils in England all have a wonderful fragrance, but they never used to have. Now they do. Mother also said that the flowers in London all have a fragrance. John Glover 15) Pamela Bromley said: Once going to a meeting in Brighton, I was just approaching it and Mother was obviously there because the fragrance was incredible. Another time Mother had a rose and She smelt it and said that all of us should be able to smell the rose with Her. Chaya [Camille] was the only one that could smell it. Pamela Bromley 16) John Glover said: Something you don't forget is Mother's fragrance. Mother says that the perfume Diorissima is the only perfume which is made with pure flowers. John Glover 17) Sharon Vincent said: Swirling gold dust When we were at Shudy Camps with Shri Mataji, I remember Mother had just come back from a program, probably a public program in Cambridge and She was just walking up the stairs. She was at the end of the corridor, so I watched Her passing from the other end and I just looked at Her and just for a split second I saw like gold dust, swirling gold dust, very fine, gold dust, just swirling behind Her where She walked. Sharon Vincent 18) Pamela Bromley said: I opened my mouth in awe Mother was walking up the stairs in my house and we were behind Her and She looked through the French windows and there was this bright star and She said to me, "It's Venus. She follows me everywhere." And I couldn't believe that it was just there, not hidden by the roof, through the window. And I opened my mouth in awe. Pamela Bromley 19) Linda Williams said: As if in a blessing One day Mother was supposed to go to a funeral. She said She had to buy some black material, which could be used as a sari, so we walked to the Army and Navy Stores, just round the corner from Mother's flat in Ashley Gardens. We entered the shop and on the ground floor was the department where perfumes of all makes were sold and on each counter were tester bottles that one could try on. As we passed a counter, I said to Mother, "Look Mother, would You like to try this scent?" I explained that one usually sprayed the testers on one's hands, especially under the wrist. Mother raised Her right hand and Her handbag was in Her left hand. As I sprayed the perfume, some nice floral one, on to the underside of Mother's wrist, for a single moment the whole of the ground floor of the Army and Navy Stores spontaneously went quiet. Then I realized that Mother's hand was raised as if in a blessing and felt that, as usual, I had failed to realize in whose presence I was. I apologized and we walked on. Mother gave a slight nod, as if to say, "Yes, that was the point." Somehow we never did get the material and Mother said She did not want to go to the funeral anyway. Linda Williams 20) Marilyn Leate said: It's good to doubt She often asked people's advice. I don't know why because She knows everything. Her maya can be oceans thick and impenetrable to one's logic, actions or questions. The only way to perceive Her is with one's pure attention. I can remember Her asking me how I was, one time in the early days. I said, "Fine, Shri Mataji. I've been having a few doubts, but I'm better now." She replied "It's good to doubt, it helps you to become stronger." Marilyn Leate 21) Bala Kanayson said: The essence of creation On one of the India tours, in 1982, I was in a car with Mother and we were driving along and then it was sunset. In fact, the sun had set. It was the time of the evening when it was neither dark nor light. Mother stopped the car and She got out and then we got out with Her. And then She said to me, while I was commenting on how beautiful everything looked and She was looking at everything and said, "I made the sky so that the trees would be framed against it." And it sounds like simple words, but it was absolutely fabulous because we were already in a high state. And we were looking at this beautiful scene of nature. And these were the few times when She suddenly lets you know what She has done in a very matter of fact way, like when She tells you of not being able to sleep and having to control the planets or solving some problem or issue way off in another dimension. It's something that makes you realize that hidden in this apparently human body is the essence of creation. Bala Kanayson 22) John Henshaw said: Churning the ocean Shri Mataji came to Melbourne. She wanted some shoes. So we went to a store. So we went up on the first floor and had a look at all the shoes and nothing fits, nothing fits Her. And I was looking at these shoes and She said, "Yes, the reason why I have a tremendous difficulty with shoe fitting is because my arch is too high and that was the result of the churning of the Ocean. I don't think any of the puranas have that detail." John Henshaw 23) Linda Williams said: She takes up the weapons Shri Mataji once explained to us the meaning of the William Blake hymn/poem "Jerusalem — And did those feet in ancient time." "Those feet" refers to Lord Jesus, and Mother said He did walk all over England. The second verse of the poem refers to Mother. "Bring me my bow of burning gold." Mother said She takes up the weapons of the Goddess and not us. We can pray for Her to do so, but if we take up the weapons, we may have problems because we do not have the shaktis. We have the power to ask Mother to do the fighting for us. So the second verse refers to Mother, not us. I can't remember when Mother said this, but I do remember that we used to have a weekly program in Hampstead [London] at the Friends Meeting House there. This was in about `80 - `81 and Mother often came. And at the end of the program we often sang "Jerusalem." Mother said that Hampstead, where Hester and David [Spiro] have always lived, is where the actual beat of the heart takes place on a subtle level, England being the left Heart. And William Blake liked Hampstead, which really was a heath with a village in his day. Linda Williams 24) Pamela Bromley said: Washing the diapers When She was in the Paris ashram, She was going upstairs to Her room and said, "It's all very well for Shiva sitting up there witnessing, but it's Me who has to wash all the diapers." Pamela Bromley 25) Alessandra Pallini said: It left me breathless The 26th of May 1985, Shri Mataji left London for the USA tour, New York, LA and San Diego. In LA we were staying at Dr. Worliker's. In the evening, after a day spent in town, Shri Mataji asked some yogis to massage some parts of Her body to get the vibrations out. While two yogis were massaging Her Feet, She asked me to massage the side of Her head corresponding to the ego — back Agnya. When I placed my hand on Her head, Shri Mataji asked me to press very hard on that area using the palm of my hand and not the fingers. As soon as I touched Her head, I had the most stunning and extraordinary experience to feel that the bones of Her scalp were not rigid and still, as it is for our normal heads. But they were sort of elastic, like rubber, slowly pulsating under my hand, as if they were progressively expanding outwards and then regressing inside in a sort of rhythmical breathing movement, which left me breathless. She kept asking me to press hard, as much as I could, on that side of Her head, which kept pulsating rhythmically and slowly during the whole massage. Alessandra Pallini 26) Linda Williams said: What is behind is vast | One day I was in Mother's flat, in Her living room. It was a wonderful warm yellow and red colour scheme, very rich and regal looking, with thick Indian carpets on the floor. I always sat on the floor in Mother's presence, although some people did sit on the chairs. On this occasion Mother was sitting on a sofa by the window. I looked up at Her and could see Her silhouetted against a clear blue sky. I thought to myself, "There you are Mother, so human and loving, but behind you is infinity. Mother seemed to pick up my thoughts and said, "What you see is Mataji, but what is behind is vast." Linda Williams 27) Ruth Flint said: This vision In Rome, She was chatting and She explained to us that when She was sleeping, She was guarding the thirteen other universes. Because there are fourteen universes, ours is one and She had to go while She was sleeping to check what was happening in the other ones. She said also, but I suppose that this is well known, that when She combs Her hair during a puja, She is putting order in the universe. Once we were talking about the present, the future and the past and how it worked, how Shri Mataji could know everything about the future and the past. She explained that it is like the planet, which is round. If you take a distance from the Earth, you see many sides of the planet at the same time. She explained that for the past and the future, it was the same. If She took a distance, then She could have this vision of the past and the future. Ruth Flint 28) Pamela Bromley said: Oh no not you too Paul [Winter] knocked on the door and I went down and he just stood there and I knew what he was going to say. Then he said, "I've just been to Kingsley [Flint] and Kingsley says Mother's God." I knew he was going to say that and I said, "Well, She is." And he said, "Oh, no, not you, too." And I said, "Ask Her yourself." And he said, "I will. I will." And then he asked Mother on Sunday afternoon at Dollis Hill and he said, "It's taped." He said, "Mataji, some people think you're God. I can't see that." Shri Mataji was — it was because of that She gave that lovely talk. Then one time in Dollis Hill, a man said, "Mother, I hear you are God." And Mother said, "It's just like a computer. What is the difference between sun and sunlight, moon and moonlight, the word and the meaning." And it was just lovely how Mother explained how God is one. It was beautiful. Pamela Bromley 29) Raolbai said: Here I am Shri Mataji asked me, "Whom have you been worshipping so far that your vibrations are so nice." "Ambaji" I said. "So today Ambaji has come to you. Here I am in front of you. Raolbai 30) Bala Kanayson said: That's how he got convinced We had a Sahaja Yogi, again from the Midlands [of England], who had persuaded his parents to come. They were concerned that he was in some kind of cult, so his father came and sat down, but wouldn't close his eyes. He was watching everything that was going on. And at the end of the program, we noticed that he was in meditation with a big smile upon his face. So when the Sahaja Yogi, named Neil, asked his dad what happened, what had made him change his mind, his dad said that while he was looking around the room watching us look very strange with our eyes closed, he suddenly saw the door of the room open and Shri Mataji Herself walked in, walked past him and climbed into the photograph. Soon after this experience, he opened his house up to us and we used to have pujas in his nice country home. And he and his wife, although they never really became Sahaja Yogis, were very positive towards us and were very helpful and hosted us whenever we needed a location to have programs or a puja. Also his dad was one of these people who didn't have much education, but worked hard with his hands. He was a very down to earth English guy. And it was very matter of fact. You know, he just said the lady in the photograph, She just came and opened the door and walked past me and climbed into the photograph. That's how he got a little convinced that his son was proudly doing something right there. Bala Kanayson 31) Linda Williams said: You give us our own powers One evening Mother came to Chelsham Road to see us. She often came on a Friday evening to see those of us who were Sahaja Yogis. On this evening She came and sat down — we usually gave Her a cup of tea soon after She arrived — and said to us, "How do you know I am not a fake?" We were all taken aback. "Well, you give us presents Mother," to which She replied, "That is not it." "You cook meals for us." "You cure us of diseases." But none of these were what Mother was looking for because, as She said, maybe She did these things to make us follow Her. Then David Spiro, at that time a young intern, said the following: "Mother, you give us our own powers, the power to know right from wrong, discrimination and so on." This, Mother said, was the answer. Linda Williams 32) Sharon Vincent said: You can't ignore them That was a wonderful experience I had. She was curing people. A friend of mine, She gave her a bandhan on Her hand because she was having problems with an allergy. Mother gave her a bandhan on Her hand and said, "The allergy has gone. It's all finished." And it was true. After that my friend had no more problems. She was completely cured. I was the last person to go up on that occasion and I had bowed my head down to Her and I couldn't even get up because I was feeling such wonderful vibrations and energy that was coming from Her. And I heard a voice. It seemed a tiny voice, as if it was a long way off. "Yes, you can get up now. You can get up." And I got up slowly and I saw Her face and it took the whole vision that I had from right to left and I just saw a huge face. I don't know what happened. I was in another level of meditation maybe. It was like the moon, as if Her face was like the moon. And She said, "How beautiful, how sweet." That was a wonderful experience I had. It's all these little experiences like that, which stay with you for the rest of your life. You can't ignore them. Sharon Vincent 33) Linda Williams said: What will happen to the universe One time I was with Mother and had picked [my daughter] Bumble up from school. It was a hot sleepy afternoon and Mother suggested we should all have a rest. We went into Her room and Mother lay down with Bumble next to Her. I sat on the floor and meditated, as I didn't feel very sleepy. They both looked so totally relaxed. After some time, Mother and Bumble both woke up. I asked Mother if She was unconscious when She slept and She explained that when She sleeps She goes from Her limited form into Her unlimited Self and said, "If I sleep, what will happen to the universe?" Linda Williams 34) Raolbai said: I have to visit everyone Once I saw Mother in my dream and I felt very happy about the whole thing. I told Shri Mataji about the dream. Mother said, "See the way you felt happy to see Me in your dream. Everyone must feel happy the same way and I have to visit everyone. So do not call Me often in your dream, as I have to meet everybody. I met you today and you feel happy. So do not call Me every time." Raolbai 35) Antoinette Wells said: Mother just unravelled everything We were in Portugal in a small village called Cintra. And we were a little bunch of yogis, about ten people, and we went to an inn, which was at the top of a hill. So we all sat around the table. It was actually a rectangular table and Mother had a white sari on and Her long hair on Her shoulders. And She was at the middle of the table and on the table there was a basket of bread and some grapes and we were all waiting there to have our supper. And [my sister] Marie-Laure and I remember there were two little local girls who rushed into the restaurant and Mother smiled at them and then they rushed out again. And Mother just said, "Realized!" And I thought, "Oh, how sweet, they just came in to get their Realization." They were about ten years old and just went in and out, running. Mother was there speaking to us and I don't recall the subject of Her speech because She was always talking to us, but I remember very much what happened then. We were about to take some grapes and She just put Her hands on some grapes and said, "Just wait." And so She put Her hands on the grapes for a while and She said, "Now you can take the grapes." Well, first we had a taste of the grapes before She put Her hands on the grapes and She said, "Wait." The grapes were quite average, a bit sugary, but no taste. And after She put Her hands on the grapes, they were absolutely succulent, full of a lovely nectar flavour. And so we just ate the grapes and praised Her and said how nice it was and how good it was. And then She put Her hand on the basket of bread and said, "Now you take this bread and share it among yourselves." So we did it and, obviously, I started to be quite amazed at what was going on here because I could recall a scene that had happened in the past, a thousand years ago. And actually, that was exactly what Mother said when that was done. She said, "You see, when Christ shared the bread among his disciples, He could say `take that because it is my body' because this very bread was His own body" because it was full of vibrations and, as he was full of vibrations, He was pranava. He was the vibrations Himself. He could convey that to the bread and, obviously, when the disciples would eat this bread, they would eat His vibrations. And the same with the grapes or the wine that She transformed. So obviously, at that time, I was completely in awe and I was in meditation because years and years of Catholicism never explained to me that mystery. And there, in a telescopic way, in five seconds, Mother just unravelled everything for us and we understood what was going on and it was very beautiful. After this episode we went out and it was the evening and it was a beautiful sunset in Cintra, in Portugal. And I remember Shri Mataji having Her burgundy coloured shawl around Her head. Her big brown eyes were looking at the sun and the sun was enormous, just at the horizon, and it seemed not to move. And we were all still beside Her, looking at the sun. And in my head I thought, "Gosh, the sun is waiting to go down because Mother is here." And then She blinked. And the sun went down. And I felt that the sun was saluting Her and that was the end of this beautiful evening. Antoinette Wells 36) Pamela Bromley said: I'm trying I'm trying She started talking about the Immaculate Conception. It seemed to register, being as we were brought up as Christians. She said how Christ was conceived in Her heart. And I was listening and Shri Mataji said, "Are you taking this in?" And I said, "Yes, I'm trying. I'm trying." Because it was so awesome and, in a way, we were slow at absorbing all this, the collective — it in the Sahasrara — wasn't so open as it is now. Pamela Bromley 37) Linda Williams said: My son I remember kneeling at Mother's feet on the stage [at Caxton Hall] — sometimes we would go up to the stage — and She worked on my Agnya. She kept on making a cross on my forehead, over and over again, and, as She did so, said "My son Jesus, My son Jesus." It was very moving. Linda Williams 38) Alessandra Pallini said: I remember when I was there I was driving Her [in 1983] from Rome to Tivoli, where Guido Lanza was managing a hotel-restaurant. The road was quite long, She was sitting next to me and commenting on the landscape we were crossing. At some point She started speaking about some plants that existed in Palestine and only there. She said they were called "the blood of Christ" or something like that. And we, in the car, looked at Her and said, "But Shri Mataji, have You been in Palestine?" And She said, "No, no, but I remember when I was there at the time of Christ." Ruth Flint During Her staying in Tivoli "Lo Zodiaco," She was offered some fresh figs. She was pleased and appreciated them very much, saying that they were good for left Nabhi problems. She also said She supposed they were growing in the area, as She used to see them "where olive trees grow in Palestina." It was as if She was evoking the times She used to eat them in Palestina, as Mother Mary. Alessandra Pallini 39) Linda Williams said: In one human body She said the most difficult thing of Her incarnaton was to fit all the powers of the Adi Shakti into one human body and then She also said another time, She said She had two daughters and then She couldn't possibly have any more children because, if it had been a son, it would be Christ and that would have been impossible for us because, I mean, you know what we're like. Linda Williams 40) Kay McHugh said: A charismatic presence The reason I was cheeky enough to ask Her about [Christ] was because one of my very early experiences after I got my Realization was to be meditating with the black and white official photograph and it turned into the face of Christ in my meditation. And it was so clear and He had dark curly ringlets down to His shoulders. He had a beard. He had — I knew exactly how tall He was from this image. It was just a split second thing. Well, it seemed more than a split second, but it was a very, very vivid image and it was — I wanted to verify that what I had seen was what I had seen, it was the face of Christ. So at one stage, when we were sitting together at an airport — I think we were waiting to fly to Paris for a program in the early morning — I asked Her, "Did He have a beard?" And She said, "Towards the end He did" because — I got the impression that it might have been that He had to change His appearance because He was hiding from the Romans and that He was quite dark. He was dark and He was big, but not too big. He was under six foot, maybe five foot ten or something like that, but very solid. And that was the impression of the person I saw, was somebody who would fill a doorway and who was incredibly lively and very happy. Yes, very happy, irrepressible happiness and very powerful, a real charismatic presence. Kay McHugh 41) Ray Harris said: My heart had yearned for two thousand years Very soon after meeting Shri Mataji I got this overwhelming feeling that I had been with Christ. As a Jew, to think that was quite amazing. I know people have mentioned this today, but I never in my life imagined I would have anything to say about Christ. I mean they were Christians. They were something else. And to me, that was the biggest revelation, that I suddenly remembered and it came back to me. It was like a flash came back to me and I was in a field. I was a farmer or something. I don't know what He was. It was like a memory and I reminded myself that my heart had yearned after this man, who had been beyond anything I could touch and for two thousand years I had been looking and there it was. It was Shri Mataji and She was there. And it wasn't like Shri Mataji was a She or a Mother even. It was like She was Christ and She was God, all in one. There was no Mother. There was no Father. I never managed to work it out. The Mother bit came later because it was like the way my mother had brought me up and I'd think, "Oh, Shri Mataji is just like my mother. She is just like my mum. She tells me off sometimes. She encourages me, cares about me, bought me ties, like you people have mentioned, but I got a tie which suited me perfectly. She bought me a jacket because I was looking a bit scruffy and my hair was long and I cut it and tried to look a bit better, actually, all the things my mother never achieved. Ray Harris 42) Ruth Flint said: On another level I asked Her about Her relationship to Christ because She had been saying sometimes that She had suffered when Christ was crucified and died. But we know that She is Adi Shakti, so She is not supposed to suffer from anything. She explained that She could put Herself at different levels and, depending on these levels, She would have different feelings. If She stayed at the kind of human level, then She would suffer because Her son had suffered. But if She went on another level, on a higher level, then She did not suffer. She would be able to witness because there She would be with all Her divine powers. Ruth Flint 43) Cyro Robeiro said: Something to live In October `92, at the end of the talk, when I received my Realization, I went to Shri Mataji and repeated the Eastern greeting, "Namaste," that many were doing. I just wanted to greet Her, but She looked at me and said, "Very good!" I got back to the audience and those words extraordinarily echoed in my mind and I saw almost my whole life passing by. I remembered the Bible, "Lord, I do not deserve that You enter my abode; but tell me just a word that I may be saved." From that moment on, this was not anymore something "to know," but something "to live," and "to experience." I began to believe I was really standing before God. I never thought it could be possible "to live" the Scriptures. I thought it was only to be understood. Cyro Robeiro 44) Michael Petrunia said: What have I done to have this blessing Thinking back to Shri Mataji in New York again. Sometimes we don't believe how the future is going to be. Especially when you are driving Shri Mataji around New York. You have a small Toyota and She is sitting shoulder to shoulder with you, discussing things of Her life with Sir CP and other things like a normal lady would do. And you sort of forget who She is and how to be. And then you grab yourself and say to yourself, "Wait a minute, She is the Adi Shakti, talking to you about Her mundane life existence." Sort of ironic. This comes to mind as a few years after these journeys that we had with Shri Mataji in this small car. And there were few Sahaja Yogis around and She was with us for a week on end and we were in Her company all this time. And I went to Italy one time and the collective had grown quite a bit. There was this one young yogi was explaining to me, how blessed he was to go to Shri Mataji's room and fetch Her glasses and bring them to Her. And then it dawned on me after ten years that what She had been telling us in those little car rides about the future of Sahaja Yoga has come to be, that there will be so many of us, that we will not even be able to catch a glimpse of Her. And there I was sitting next to Her shoulder to shoulder, to say to myself, what have I done to have this blessing of having Guru Mata sitting next to me, sharing Her stories of Her worldly life with Sir CP, as if She was just another lady? Michael Petrunia 45) Helen Manassey said: She meets us on our level I know the brain has something to do with faith. If you have the faith that God can do anything, then no matter what your brain is saying, the reality of a situation can change drastically. Just the faith that God will make it all right is enough to save you. Once I got a bit of a telling off. At the end She said, "Don't worry it will be all right." For months my whole life seemed to fall apart and be a mess. Nothing on the outside worked. But I kept telling myself it would be all right because She had said it would. When my brain asked me, "How can this mess be all right?" I just kept telling myself, "It will be all right. Shri Mataji said so." A few years later, when I was back in the good books, I mentioned this to Shri Mataji and She said that it was my faith that had saved me, that our brains convince us of things that don't exist and aren't real. Just the small amount of faith I had, had allowed God to work things out for me. That She would make Herself so small and available to us, absolutely blows me away. She is everything, yet She meets us on our level to pick us up. It is how much She does for us that makes me feel the love of God. Helen Manassey 46) Pamela Bromley said: Then there was another time when Shri Mataji said that Sahaja Yoga is like an apartment block and She's come down to the second or first floor as a human being and we have to come up because this is as far as Mother can come down. Pamela Bromley 47) Kay McHugh said: It's just a vehicle The hall [near Stonehenge] was lined with wood so the acoustics were just incredibly noisy and there must have been — what? — two hundred of us there. She spoke really, really softly with Her head down and you could hear a pin drop. And that's when She said that Sahaja Yoga was just a vehicle that She was using and She said, "You have to hang on to Me. If Sahaj doesn't work, then I won't use it any more, but you have to hang on to Me." And the vibrations there — I remember lying out on the lawn out the front and looking up and it was just thick with vibrations. Kay McHugh 48) Linda Williams said: Getting into the details Mother was incredibly kind to me and one day I remember Her talking to me alone in a room in Her house at Brompton Square. It was a talk which seemed to come from a very high level, as if Mother was saying, "Come on, try and see what is going on in this lifetime and stop worrying about such superficial things." She told me that I must try to be brave because, by looking through my eyes, She was helping to work out millions of women around the world who had been left to bring up children without the support of a husband. She then said that She had come down to our level to help us. She said that when She incarnates She does not have to obey any rules of the world, but She does so impeccably, to give us an example. She also said that between incarnations, She has an overview of what is going on in this world, but when She incarnates She really sees and gets into the details. On this occasion She could hardly believe the mess we had managed to make of our world. Linda Williams 49) Malcolm Murdoch said: I want to understand You I said to Mother, I said, "You know, I want to understand You." She said, "You never will," you see. I guess really because what understanding means is intellectual. Understanding means to understand mentally and, of course, that, as we all realize, She's totally incomprehensible. So I know what She meant, "You will never understand Me." Malcolm Murdoch
