Mooladhara Chakra

“Mooladhara comprises of words Mool and Adhara which means Primary support or fundamental base. Mooladhara therefore means the primordial base or seat of evolution. In Sahaja Yoga, mooladhara means the abode of Primordial Energy — the kundalini. In a human being mooladhara chakra is the first chakra, which is also the main chakra and has its impact on working and awakening of vibrations in all other chakras. Thus whole creation and evolution has its origin in mooladhara and growth in the mooladhara chakra. Her Holiness Shri Mataji has explained that "Mooladhara Chakra means the centre which is the support of the root of creation.". . .

Scientifically, the whole creation is born from energy and therefore from Adi Shakti — the Primordial Energy (kundalini.) Since mooladhara is the abode of kundalini, mooladhara truly becomes the base of origin. Also in the creation amoeba was the first living organism to evolve. Amoeba also had the capability to survive, therefore amoeba must have had at least one chakra in existence. Since mooladhara chakra is the first chakra amoeba must have been blessed with kundalini and mooladhara chakra. . .

Philosophically, Adi Shakti is the creator. Since mooladhara is the seat of Adi Shakti in a human being, mooladhara becomes the base of creation. Adi Shakti also created Lord Ganesha as the first among the deities. Lord Ganesha is worshipped in the beginning of every event and function. Lord Ganesha is also the master of mooladhara chakra. Therefore mooladhara chakra becomes the base for evolution and growth. . . .

Sahaja Yoga, as has been explained in various places, is the ultimate in yoga. Yoga means union; Sahaja means born with you. Thus Sahaja Yoga is the divine system of yoga by awakening the kundalini, a reflection of Adi Shakti and individual mother of each individual, and present in every one from birth. The kundalini instrument was first put in Virata and since human beings are made in the image of Virata, all elements of primordial kundalini, nadis and chakras are present in the human being. Explaining the position of mooladhara chakra in the kundalini instrument, Her Holiness Shree Mataji explained, "This centre is created first, at the very onset of creation of Kundalini in Virata. As human beings are created in the image of God(Virata) this centre is also expressed first in every human being." "The Mooladhara Chakra is placed at the lowest region in the trunk of human beings about one inch above the centre of the ‘seat.’ This most vital and important centre is in the subtle form. The gross expression of this centre is pelvic plexus, as described in medical terminology."

Sacrum bone is the seat of kundalini and therefore when kundalini rises from her seat, she first travels down to pierce the mooladhara chakra and then only rises up to fill up the nadis and other chakras with vibrations. . . .

For evolution it is essential that each element of the creation evolves physically and spiritually. Since kundalini instrument is present in all elements of creation, awakening of nadis and chakras will lead to higher evolution. Mother has explained that, "Every chakra is a part of expression of the total awareness, the total identity."

Since mooladhara chakra is the first chakra and occupies the seat, awakening in mooladhara chakra should lead to higher evolution.
