More than ever before in the
history of mankind
“More
than ever before in the history of mankind, in spite of his
great technological progress, man is turning inward to find
the true meaning of life. Without this answer he remains as
a rudderless boat just drifting along. This could only
result in greater unhappiness and misery for himself, and
for those around him.
The answer to this dilemma lies in religion. By religion I
mean all religions and not a particular one. For what is religion offering
today? The meaning of the word religion is "to bind back". But are
they really binding back to God , or are they binding man to dogmas, various
forms of ritualism and outward religious display? It is because of this that our
churches and temples are becoming emptier. Today's man with a far more
sophisticated way of thinking starts questioning the do's and don'ts of the
pulpit.
These injunctions and dogmas are
necessary up to a point, but in this age something far more is needed, and yet
based on the same age-old scriptures, and that is EXPERIENCE. Man approaching
the 21st century will not accept " blind belief", but the very beliefs are
expounded by the churches and temples would have a greater meaning if they are
reinforced by a tangible experience and a greater knowingness. It is of some
value to believe in God but for man's ultimate Spiritual welfare it is a must
for him to have a daily direct experience of Divinity in its practical form, and
thus live a living God and not just a conceptual God. Some may have direct
experiences but the majority must be taught through a systematic method of
individual meditation to reach the "Kingdom of Heaven within".”
