Dear Senan,
Yesterday evening i had to take my daughter to a mall in
the suburbs.
Right now she is fascinated by beads sold at dollar
stores, the
plastic ones you string together to make necklaces and
bracelets.
Although she had purchased a few pouches some few weeks
earlier, a
chance finding at the library of a high-quality
brand-new book with
excellent glossy photos of bead designs mesmerized her.
She just
wanted to have more different beads and bullied me into
taking her to
the mall, even though it was not the week-end.
But you have to hand it to these Chinese for their
enterprising
innovation and quality products churned out at a
fraction of western
wages. You can actually find 'pearls' and 'diamonds'
amongst the
beads, provided you are still a joyful child.
Today morning she was admiring her beads and exclaimed
they looked
like real diamonds, and asked what would have been their
worth if
they were actually genuine. The figures raised her
eyebrows.
So Senan i cannot take away the joy your beads bring.
All i can say
is that the diamonds i have are genuine and priceless.
And if you
truly knew their value your eyebrows also will be raised
......
and would never want to make a necklace by mixing
plastic beads with
De Beers diamonds.
warmest regards,
jagbir
