Logion 10: Jesus said, “I have cast fire upon the world, and see, I am guarding it until it blazes.”

“In every religion there is the mention of the Primordial Mother. Thomas, Saint Thomas’ Gospel had described how Christ has said that, ‘I have another Mother.’”

For my mother [...], but my true [mother] gave me life.” The true mother may be the Holy Spirit, because the Hebrew word for Spirit (ruah) is feminine... An explicit proclamation of the Spirit as the mother of Jesus is to be found in the Gospel of Hebrew (frags. 2 and 3). This means that in the third part the true mother of Jesus, who gave him life, is the Holy Spirit.”’ (Pokorny 2011, 144)

“For us, in between Jesus Christ and His destroying Incarnation of Mahavishnu called as Kalki there is a time given to human beings to rectify themselves, for them to enter into the Kingdom of God, which in the Bible is called as Last Judgment.”

Christ who is the embodiment of forgiveness—forgiveness of Christ is nothing but is the power of sustenance within Him—if He explodes the whole forgiveness can come on Earth as a big disaster if we are not able to understand the value of His forgiveness. He has said very clearly that"Anything against me will be tolerated but a word against Holy Ghost won't be tolerated.” He has clearly said it and now you have to understand that the Holy Ghost is the Adi Shakti.”

“Christ has said very clearly in the second chapter of Matthew 2nd verse 'You'll be calling me Christ! Christ! I won't recognize you.' That's very true. It is not a question of who recognises Him, but He should recognize you because the advent of Christ is going to be absolutely terrible. He is not going to talk to you, convince you or comfort you or give you any council as I am trying my level best, but He will just come for the Last Sorting out because I declare that the Last Judgment has started. The Last Judgment takes place only through Kundalini awakening. There is no other way out. God is going to do it through living process.”

“What has contributed to this abstract, numinous concept of the Spirit as "ghost" in Western culture is the traditional theology that emphasizes the abstract, transcendent, otherwordly, and mysterious nature of the Holy Spirit. In contrast, the many biblical testimonies to the action of Gods Spirit talk about the Spirit entering into diverse realities of human life.” (Karkkainen 2002, 135)

“These are the times described in the Holy Bible as the Last Judgment and in the Koran as Qiyamah, the Resurrection Time. Astrologically it is also called the Age of Aquarius, the time of rebirth and of great spiritual development on the Earth.”

“This self-effacing character of the Spirit's presence finds a kind of verbal reinforcement in scripture due to an ambiguity present in both Hebrew and Greek, where the words ruach and pneuma carry a semantic width that encompasses the range of English words: "Wind," "Breath," "spirit.” In the Priestly account of creation, are we to translate Genesis 1:2b as saying that "The spirit of God was moving over the face of the waters" or would it be better rendered, “A wind of God swept over the face of the waters"? When Jesus says to Nicodemus," The wind blows where it chooses and you hear the sound of it, but you do not know where it comes from or where it goes. So it is with everyone who is born of the Spirit" (John 3:8), the Greek of the Gospel contains a kind of theological pun in its double use of pneuma.” (Welker 2006, 170)

“Thus, the establishment of global peace can only come through people who have achieved this state in modern times which is very special and I call it a Blossom Time. In the Bible, it is described as the Last Judgment, also in the Koran it is called as Qiyamah, the Resurrection time.”

“It is the task of the Spirit of God to make Gods power knowable. Gods Spirit makes it possible to know the creative power of God, which brings the diversity of all that is creaturely into rich, fruitful, life sustaining relations. Experiences of Gods Spirit are not only private experiences (as the modern mind-set prefers to think), nor are they limited to some isolated groups (as the Charismatic mind-set often implies). Therefore, the main challenge of theological pneumatology is to confront the tensions and conflicts between the biblical attestation that in the Spirit God acts in concrete ways that can be experienced and the assertion of secular common sense that God is distant and powerless. ” (Karkkainen 2002, 135)

“This is the Last Judgment. Either you will go to heaven or you will go to hell. It's already working out like that. So let's see. Where are you? So I have to again and again tell you as your Mother, I have to correct you and tell you that remember this is the Last Judgment and please don't take anymore to the activities which are antiChrist.”

“So in this Last Judgment a new race, new race of great people is created. It is your own. It is your own power. Only to know how glorious you are, how great you are. Absolutely free because you get that superior intelligence. In the light of Spirit you know what is constructive for you. You know absolute knowledge.”

THE MOTHER: Messiah-Paraclete-Ruh

“This is reflected in numerous sayings. The Kingdom is like a treasure or a costly pearl whose possession outranks all other goods (Mt. 13:44-46). It is something to be sought here and now (Mt. 6:33) and to be received as children receive a gift (Mk. 10:15 = Lk. 18:16-17). In this saying the Kingdom is God's rule, but it includes the gift of his rule. The divine reign is not a fearful power before which people are compelled to bow, but a gift. Children exemplify the trustfulness and receptivity required of the 'sons of the Kingdom.' The Kingdom belongs to them, not because their humility is a virtue that merits it, but because they are responsive. 'The Kingdom belongs to such because they receive it as a gift.... [It] is the gift of the divine rule.' Matthew 19:14 echoes the same thought that the Kingdom of God is a present possession of the childlike. The promise that those who ask shall receive, and those who seek shall find (Mt. 7:7), is to be understood in this context. 'The thing to be sought is the Kingdom of God, which, being found, is the satisfaction of all needs (Lk. 12:31). The door to be knocked at is the door which gives entrance into the Kingdom of God.'” (Ladd 1993, 73)

“So, as it is, you are already marked, you have already been chosen by Christ in his Last Judgment, and you are there. But still one should know that there is also the possibility that you are hypocrites, that you are playing with only words. Could be that we still have to cleanse ourselves, so just put your mind into yourself, and just see for yourself that where have I gone wrong.”

“The Spirit the Liberator
According to the messianic promises of the Bible, God establishes justice, mercy, and knowledge of God through the Messiah, on whom the Spirit of God rests. God pours out the Spirit on all flesh to make all people free to overcome the social and cultural boundaries that have been built to divide people. Welker sees in the emergence of liberation and feminist theologies clear signs of the mighty works of the Spirit. The Spirit works in various ways among diverse peoples and groups to set the captives free. This delivering work makes the various kinds of liberation theologies the most significant forms of theology for today. ” (Karkkainen 2002, 135)

Shri Mataji Nirmala Devi (1923-2011): Christian by birth, Hindu by marriage and Paraclete by duty.
“For Moltmann, resurrection is the beginning of the rebirth of the whole creation, and it is "the rebirth of Christ.” Believers are possessed by the Spirit of the resurrection and through it are born again to a hope for eternal life. Like resurrection, rebirth is inception of a new form of human life. It is the anticipation of the resurrected life that Christ already holds. Moreover, in the event in which believers are born again to become children of God and heirs of his kingdom, the efficacies of Christ and the efficacies of the Spirit interpenetrate. We can call it either justification, or regeneration, but still we are describing the operation of the Spirit. Thus Moltmann concludes that experiences of the Spirit are unfathomable depth, because in them God himself is present in us, so that in the immanence of our hearts we discover a transcendent depth. If this Spirit of God is "the Spirit of the resurrection" then we are possessed by a hope which sees unlimited potentialities ahead, because it looks towards God's future. In his words, "The transcendent depths of the divine Spirit and the eschatological breadth of the Spirit of the resurrection mean that we cannot talk about our 'rebirth' or 'regeneration' as if it were a one-and-for-all experience, something finished and done with that is now behind us. We are still involved in the experience of renewal, and the becoming-new travels with us.” In short, there is a growth in faith and a growth in the new life of the Spirit.”

“This is the greatest of the greatest things which can happen to anyone that you know. Also you know, this is the greatest happening, which was prophesied long time back as the Last Judgment. You know that this is the way, you are going to be judged. So we have to work very hard. We have to work. It is effortlessly given to you, alright. But to maintain it, keep it up to go high, we have to religiously work it out.”

THE MOTHER: Messiah-Paraclete-Ruh

“And that your Last Judgment is also now. Only through Kundalini awakening God is going to judge you. How is he going to judge you otherwise? You think of somebody now, a person comes in now. Here is somebody sitting to judge you. How? By how many hair-dressers you have been to? Or how many suits you have stitched for Christmas? Or what presents you have bought or how many cards you have sent? and to how many people you have sent some other things which may not be very palatable. That's not the way.”

“This is the most important time because Sahaja Yoga is the Last Judgment. It is fantastic to have this but that's a fact and is the truth. Though you can understand, that Mother's love makes it very easy for you to get through your realization and that the whole story of the Last Judgment looks such as horrifying experience has been made very beautiful and very tender and delicate and does not disturb you. But this is the Last Judgment I tell you, and you all are going to be judged through Sahaja Yoga, whether, you can enter into the kingdom of God or not.”

THE MOTHER: Messiah-Paraclete-Ruh-Devi

“The Last Judgment has started. We are facing the Last Judgment today. We are not aware of it. And all the satanic forces have come out like the wolves in sheep's clothes. And they are trying to attract you and you do not judge them. You only sit down and judge the Reality. It has started, it is a fact. It has started.”

THE MOTHER: Messiah-Paraclete-Ruh-Devi

“That Krishna has said once you get your realisation your problems are solved, physical, emotional, mental, all problems are solved and you become absolutely relaxed. That goes without saying. But I'm not here to sort of cure people and go to hospitals. Nothing of the kind. It's just who are the seekers will be blessed because this is the reward of this Last Judgment.”

THE MOTHER: Messiah-Paraclete-Ruh-Devi

“But, logically, you must understand. Where should we reach? What should happen to us? As seekers, what are we expecting? This is a very, very precarious and important time is more to say. The Last Judgment has started. That has started. That's how you are all here and you are seeking. The way it will judge, is the Kundalini has to rise. Your have to become self realized. Then you start feeling your centers on your fingers.”

“Sahaja Yoga is for the emancipation of the whole world, at every level. Once we have people of a certain number in Sahaja Yoga, it will start triggering understanding of real righteousness, religiousness and our love for God, and enlightened faith in God. This is how the Resurrection time is going to be worked out. This is the Last Judgment time, and everyone can judge him or herself through the light of the Spirit.”

“Betz (1963) unconvincingly argues for a Qumran background (the archangel Michael; cf. Shafaat 1981: 263-269, who likewise adduces DSS parallels; and Leaney 1972: 38-61, who says the Paraclete is God himself). Windisch (1968) advances the hardly more plausible hypothesis that the Paraclete is a kind of angel ... in human form’, be it a prophet or teacher. Johnston (1970) unsuccessfully proposes that the parakletos is an active divine power that has become embodied in certain leaders of the apostolic church, such as the fourth evangelist (see the critiques by Brown 1967:126 and 1971: 268-270, for whom the Paraclete is the ‘alter ego of Jesus’, 1967:132, cited in Smalley, 1996:297; cf. Burge 1987). Bultmann (1971: 566-572) views the concept as a Johannine appropriation of his Gnostic source’s figure of ‘helper’. Riesenfeld (1972: 266-274) postulates a sapiential provenance, which is equally unlikely. Boring( 1978:113-123) claims the Paraclete is an angel demythologized as the ‘spirit of prophecy’! Billington (1995: 90-115) appropriately stress the Paraclete’s role in mission. If the disciples are to witness to Jesus, they must understand the significance of his coming; witness to Jesus and the paraclete’s ministry are thus inseparable (15:26-27; 16:8-11;20:21-23). For a helpful discussion of the Paraclete as a part of the fourth Gospel's Lawsuit motif, esp. in 15:26- 16:15, see Lincoln 2000: 110-123, esp. 113-114.” (Kostenburger & Swain 2008, 97)

“If we have to change this world, and if we have to save our people from complete destruction, we have to take to wisdom, and that is only possible when the brain is enlightened by Kundalini. This is what is very important today, when we see that this world is on the verge of destruction. Of course, the Creator himself is very anxious to save us and that is why he has in these modern times which are called Kali Yuga, made the all-pervading power activated.

So, now a new age has started which is called the Age of Aquarius. Kumbha meaning the pitcher carrier of spiritual holy water that is the work of Kundalini. The activity of the Kundalini is like the sap of the tree that rises and nourishes all parts of the tree and does not get stuck at one flower (centre). Moreover these are special times. This is the resurrection time. The Last Judgment is done by the Kundalini. On the fingertips one can feel oneself and can judge oneself.”

THE MOTHER: Messiah-Paraclete-Ruh-Devi

“Of course, this is also the age of science and technology in which human beings have progressed beyond the stage of blind faith. And in this great happening of the Last Judgment and the Resurrection Time, one need not, and should not, believe blindfolded in whatever is said about ascent or salvation, but should treat it like a hypothesis, and observe the facts with an open mind like a, scientist. Of course, if a hypothesis is proved, then any honest, scientifically minded modern person has to accept it.”

THE MOTHER: Messiah-Paraclete-Ruh-Devi

“Now this is the Last Judgment and those who miss will miss in any case. Christ has said, 'You will be calling Me Christ, Christ, but I will not recognize you.' So understand you have to become the Spirit as Christ has said, 'You are to be born again.' You may have faith in me or not; doesn't matter. You must have faith in yourself to begin with.”

“But in a way is good because this is Last Judgment. If by marriage, by temptations, by wrong doings, by conditionings if you have to go out, you have to go out.

I must tell you that also there's very little place in the Kingdom of God. Unless and until you prove to be good Sahaja Yogis, there is no place for you, for mediocre there is no place. You have to serious, deep, seeking, dedicated Sahaja Yogis otherwise you have no place.”

THE MOTHER: Messiah-Paraclete-Ruh-Devi

“So this is the Last Judgment and you will be judged for everything that you do for Sahaja Yoga. One has to be very careful as to how you behave, what is your attitude is and how you should change.”

“The Kundalini is your own mother; your individual mother. And She has tape-recorded all your past and your aspirations. Everything! And She rises because She wants to give you your second birth. But She is your individual mother. You don't share Her with anybody else. Yours is a different, somebody else's is different because the tape-recording is different. We say She is the reflection of the Adi Shakti who is called as Holy Ghost in the Bible.”
The Paraclete Shri Mataji, Press Conference, London, UK—July 8, 1999

“If you want to miss your own ascent, you can go ahead, you can chose, the choice is yours, this is the Last Judgment. And with this Last Judgment, you have to judge yourself. In the Koran it is very clearly said at the time of Resurrection, your hands will 'speak' and will give witness against you. There is a very big chapter on Resurrection, but the fundamentalists don't want to look at it. They believe their religion is the best. But what would it has done to anyone? It is so much misinterpreted, so much misinterpreted. Now the time has come, this is a special time which is the time of Resurrection, this is the Qiyamah. It is the special time of Last Judgment where you have to judge yourself.”

“Today, Sahaja Yoga has reached the state of Mahayoga, which is en- masse evolution manifested through it. It is this day's Yuga Dharma. It is the way the Last Judgment is taking place. Announce it to all the seekers of truth, to all the nations of the world, so that nobody misses the blessings of the Divine to achieve their meaning, their absolute, their spirit.”

THE MOTHER: Messiah-Paraclete-Ruh-Devi

“The main thing that one has to understand is that the time has come for you to get all that is promised in the scriptures, not only in the Bible but all the scriptures of the world. The time has come today that you have to become a Christian, a Brahmin, a Pir, through your Kundalini awakening only. There is no other way. And that your Last Judgment is also now.”

A Commentary on the Gospel of Thomas: From Interpretations to the Interpreted
10 34,14-16a

Jesus says:
“I have cast fire upon the world,
and see, I am guarding it until it blazes.”

Fire meant God's judgment on human sins (Matt 3:10 par.; 1 Cor 3:15; cf. log. 13:8) or the testing of the believers (1 Pet 1:7; Rev 3:18); but here the fire is obviously Jesus' potent proclamation of the kingdom and its inner power, which even changes human minds.

The problem starts with the translation of this saying. Unlike in Luke 12:49 (Q),38 where the saying ends with “and how I wish it were already kindled!” (Gr. anaptomai), in this logion we read “and see, I am guarding it until it blazes.” Another possible translation is: “I am protecting it (the world) until it blazes” or even “until it burns.” Less probable, even if grammatically possible, is the rendering “until (the world) burns.” The Coptic version may simply be a free translation, but it might also be a conscious adaption reminding readers/hearers that the legacy of their small community will become the light of the world.

The interpretation of this saying has been a problem since its earliest attestation. The fire was originally the power of apocalyptic transformation—a transformation “as through the fire”41—a new beginning. The next parallel in Thomas is logion 82, about Jesus acting as a fire, and logion 16 about the apocalyptic fire and struggle. A parallel is also preserved in the Gospel of the Savior (Unknown Berlin Gospel) 107,42-47, which introduces the Savior's call for his disciples (readers) to gather around him. A parallel is mentioned by Origen.

The problems with its interpretation indirectly support its authenticity. Since it was already not quite comprehensible in meaning in the third generation, its survival in the transmitted text was most probably due to a consciousness of its age.

10. Jesus said: I have thrown fire on the world. Look! I watch it until it blazes.

In the context of the Gospel of Thomas, the blazing of the fire that Jesus has cast will fall on individuals fanning that fire, cast in the past, into a blaze for themselves. The fire will not be some world-historical event that will take place in the indefinite future; it is not some coming day of judgment. Here the fire may represent Jesus' words, for it is the sayings of Jesus that the Gospel of Thomas values most. In saying 82, Jesus says," Whoever is near me is near the fire. Whoever is far from me is far from the Kingdom"In a manner that equates the terms"fire"And"Kingdom.”Here, when he throws fire upon the world we probably should understand that he has come to reveal knowledge of the Kingdom that is spread out upon the world. Tau Malachi, The Gnostic Gospel of St. Thomas
VERSE 10

Jesus said," I have cast fire upon the world, and see, I am guarding it until it blazes.”

The Master comes with a holy fire, a fire-consuming fire, making all like unto itself, Divine. The Master imparts the fire, kindles the fire, and tends the holy fire until it blazes and transforms the disciple. The disciple, too, once receiving the holy fire, must kindle and tend until it blazes, the Master and disciple acting together so that initiation comes to fruition.
Now rightly, it is said that, without the blessing and guardianship of an adept or master, whatever spiritual practice you might take up is not fully alive and empowered, and thus cannot develop beyond a certain degree and come to fruition. The master generates and imparts substantial spiritual energy-intelligence, energy on the one hand that the disciple needs to actually fuel spiritual practice and, on the other hand, a field of energy that serves as protection against other forces that would hinder or obstruct. Fire is an appropriate symbol of this substantial spiritual power, a power that transforms and illuminates and, indeed, serves to protect.

There is a holy continuum adepts or masters tend that empowers the continuum of spiritual practice and spiritual living among their disciples and at the same time blesses and protects those they have received as disciples. Once such a connection is actually formed, it remains until it is brought to fruition or completion, the actual completion occurring when the disciple imparts the initiation to another person. Here, the Master speaks of this secret continuum. In this way, passing from one to another, the whole world is set on fire with the Word of the Lord.

The Master is also speaking of something more, for Yeshua Messiah is an incarnation of the great World Teacher. More than a prophet, he is Messiah, and he brings into the world a new Divine consciousness-force along with a new dimension of teachings and initiations corresponding to this Supernal Light-force. Embodying this Divine consciousness-force, he transmit it to his immediate disciples and, through his disciples, to the larger collective of humanity and the world, initiating a Light-transmission that passes from one generation to another through the succession of apostles, the initiates who hold the secret keys of the mysteries that the Master taught and who embody something of the Light-force he brought into the world.

The nature of this supernal consciousness-force is akin to"fire"In that it transforms and illuminates all that it touches. It illuminates and transforms every level of consciousness into the likeness or image of itself. To describe this holy fire today, we would speak of it as a spiritual nuclear fire, a secret Divine energy or light that is hidden within the center of everything, within the center of every particle of matter, and that when fully actualized and realized can radically transform, not only consciousness, but matter itself. The self-radiance of the Transfiguration and the demonstration of the resurrection body reveal something of the nature and transforming power of this spiritual consciousness-force.

... When, where, and how this great transformation will happen is not known, yet according to the prophets and the Word of the Lord, it is certain that the great transformation will take place.

That the Master is speaking of himself as transmitting and guarding this spiritual power until it comes to fruition in the great transformation or resurrection of the world indicates the duty of the faithful and all initiates to labor toward this great advent of the Second Coming—hence, active engagement in the great work. For this holy fire to blaze, many must embody it and bring it into the world full force. You must give the Lord a body and life to accomplish the great transformation. What the Master does, the disciple must also do, and the Lord has promised that his disciples shall do even greater things than they have seen or heard him do. This is the very essence of a mystical and Gnostic Christianity, that you also must embody the Spirit of the Messiah and labor to bring about the Second Coming in your own lifetime.

Richard Valantasis, The Gospel of Jesus
Saying 10

Jesus said," I have cast fire upon the world, and look, I'm guarding it until it blazes.”

"This saying articulates a subversive aspect of the mission of these sayings. The collection does not entirely revolve about the positing of an alternative way of living and conceiving of self; it also describes the social displacement and social reorganization that follows those personal alternatives. The violence of that subversion becomes evident here when Jesus announces in this declarative statement, that he has 'cast fire' upon the world. The problematizing of the world which seems so much a part of these sayings carries with it an increment of destruction and violence. Although Jesus has cast this fire upon the earth, the fire remains weak and needy, requiring protection from its originator until it can take hold. That describes a subversive violence, one which begins very small and hidden, but which eventually erupts into full force destruction. Fire bears a double significance in this saying, a duality of meaning that underscores this twin role of violence and dependence: the fire that Jesus casts seems to relate to a judgmental use of fire, the metaphor of fire as an apocalyptic or eschatological tool, while the tending of the fire in the second half of the sayings suggests the kindling of a small force that will be protected until it develops. The positive and pastoral role of the guardian of the fire balances the negative role of the fire itself, because this fire Is not an instantaneous destructive one, but one that needs tending and care until it matures.

The articulation of such violence should not surprise readers, because it seems to be a corollary to the kind of loosely formed community which these sayings posit. Since these people are the ones who have ears to hear (Saying 8) and senses to perceive (Saying 5), they do not form the majority, but an entitled minority. They are, in fact, the fire that needs to be guarded and tended until they may mature. This community chooses their minority status: the conflict with the dominant religious environment in which they live enhances their own identity. The clearer the distinction between their minority and the dominant religious expressions of their day, the more violent and subversive their opposition to it remain. Jesus' sayings makes that opposition essential to the self-understanding of the readers and seekers, while also acknowledging that the opposition does not put them immediately in a place of power but in a place of fragility, which demands Jesus' protection.”

Scholarly Quotes

R. McL. Wilson writes: "Logion 10 has a parallel in Luke xii. 49, but with a change of emphasis. The canonical version looks to the future: 'I came to cast fire upon the earth, and how I wish it were already kindled!' In Thomas the fire has been kindled: 'I have cast fire upon the world, and behold, I guard it until it is ablaze.' This raises an interesting problem in relation to the common source of Matthew and Luke, since Matthew (x. 34) records a saying, 'I came not to cast peace, but a sword.' As already observed, something like this appears in logion 16, but in the saying in Thomas 'division' and 'fire' are paralleled in Luke, 'sword' in Matthew. The question is whether in Thomas we have a conflation of the two synoptic versions, or a form of the saying derived from an independent tradition.” (Studies in the Gospel of Thomas, pp. 110-111)

Robert M. Grant and David Noel Freedman write: “A similar saying in Luke 12:49 is clearly eschatological. 'I came to cast fire on the earth, and how I wish that it were already kindled.' Thomas changes future to past and present. The fire has been ignited, and Jesus keeps the world until it burns up; to be near the fire is to be near Jesus and the kingdom (Saying 82).” (The Secret Sayings of Jesus, p. 128)

Marvin Meyer writes: "The gnostic document Pistis Sophia 141 has Jesus utter a nearly identical saying. Jesus, who is called Aberamentho, says, 'For this reason I said to you, "I have come to throw fire upon the earth," that is, I have come to cleanse the sins of the whole world with fire.' See also Gospel of Thomas saying 15.” (The Gospel of Thomas: The Hidden Sayings of Jesus, p. 73)

Funk and Hoover write: "Both the context and the form of the saying in Thomas distinguish it from the Lukan version ('I came to set the earth on fire, and how I wish it were already ablaze!'). In Luke, the saying is part of a cluster probably already formed in Q, and reflects the early Christian community's mythologized view of Jesus as one who came into the world for its redemption. In Thomas, the saying appears as a single aphorism, not part of a cluster, and with none of the Christianizing language of the Lukan version. The saying in Thomas is thus probably not dependent on Q or Luke, but represents an independent tradition.” (The Five Gospels, pp. 478-479)

Gerd Ludemann writes: "The logion is similar to Luke 12.49, but can hardly have come from there (cf. by contrast the adoption and interpretation of Luke 12.49 in the Gnostic writing Pistis Sophia IV 141: it means the cleansing of the sins of the whole world by fire). The key to its understanding is 'world' (Luke: earth), a word which appears sixteen times alone in the Gospel of Thomas and in it has a predominantly negative sense (cf. Logion 56). In Logion 82 'fire' is connected with the nearness of Jesus. So the meaning seems to be that Jesus' presence will set on fire the world, understood in negative terms.” (Jesus After 2000 Years, p. 595)

This refers to the resurrection. The cucifixion is the spark, and the resurrection allowed him to ensure the spark became a blaze to engulf the world (with the message). - Alayo Pinion

Jesus came to reveal revolutionary concepts of who we are in relation to God and our place in Reality. He watched over the results until he saw that there were sufficient true hearers of his message that its continuance could be assured into the future. - active-mystic

active-mystic, I concur. Jesus vouldn't be referring to his crucifixion, as he clearly wasn?t aware of it happening ("Why did you abandon me" on the cross). - thinking aloud

This has connection to saying 3. When one begins to look inside oneself honestly, a fire is kindled that burns away our fabricated view of self revealing our true nature. This fire is like a sword, cutting away our attachments to things we identify with. - Khorov

I have cast a gospel upon the world, and see, I watch over it until it blazes. Note that there are two clever literary devices here: (1) "And see, I watch over it" suggests identity between the reader (who sees) and Jesus (who watches over the gospel as the reader does); (2) the last "It" is ambiguous, as it could refer either to the gospel or the world. The ambiguity is intentional. There are two valid interpretations-the gospel will come ablaze with meaning when it is recognized that Jesus wrote it and what he wrote. It will burn the fingers of the worldly, and it will blaze with the glory of God to those who love Jesus. But also, equally true, is that it will set the world ablaze when this is recognized. Jesus was a great literary genius. He was also a very efficient writer. - Simon Magus

Farmers often set fire to their fields as a means of cleansing prior to planting. It is scary sometimes but because the farmer is watching we need not be alarmed everything is under control the fire need not cause fear but should be seen as part of greater cycle of planting (life). - Taoito

Has anyone ever noticed that conflicts about religion, Truth, and God are often the most intense? - bromikl

The fruit of the tree of knowledge is the awareness of our differences. It is attachment to our differences that drove humans from the garden of Eden. The way back is guarded by the flaming sword that cuts those attachments. The two forces of antiquity were strife and love. Love, the golden rule from which all else flows, brings us closer to knowing our unity of spirit, which is seen when we burn away our attachments. - BigJim

The perennial message is presented anew & afresh to each generation [audience]. A true teacher watches over his projection [monitors] - Thief37

It is also posible that this is a litterary reference by the author to Prometheus who brought fire into the world and was chained to rock for his trouble. - Rylon

The fire represents Yeshua's word and he is watching over it until it is spread across the world (blazes), so that all may know the truth. - Eliyah

Jesus may have been saying that he has cast the world ablaze by sending the word of God and now he is going to watch it spread all over. - Meg

THE APOCALYPSE OF THE SPIRIT-PARACLETE
The fulfillment of the promised divine eschatological instruction
“The original meaning of the word ‘apocalypse’, derived from the Greek apokalypsis, is in fact not the cataclysmic end of the world, but an ‘unveiling’, or ‘revelation’, a means whereby one gains insight into the present.” (Kovacs, 2013, 2) An apocalypse (Greek: apokalypsis meaning “an uncovering”) is in religious contexts knowledge or revelation, a disclosure of something hidden, “a vision of heavenly secrets that can make sense of earthly realities.” (Ehrman 2014, 59)
Shri Mataji
Shri Mataji Nirmala Devi (1923-2011) was Christian by birth, Hindu by marriage, and Paraclete by duty.
“The Paraclete will come (15:26; 16:7, 8, 13) as Jesus has come into the world (5:43; 16:28; 18:37)... The Paraclete will take the things of Christ (the things that are mine, ek tou emou) and declare them (16:14-15). Bishop Fison describes the humility of the Spirit, 'The true Holy Spirit of God does not advertise Herself: She effaces Herself and advertises Jesus.' ...
It is by the outgoing activity of the Spirit that the divine life communicates itself in and to the creation. The Spirit is God-in-relations. The Paraclete is the divine self-expression which will be and abide with you, and be in you (14:16-17). The Spirit's work is described in terms of utterance: teach you, didasko (14:26), remind you, hypomimnesko (14:26), testify, martyro (15:26), prove wrong, elencho (16:8), guide into truth, hodego (16:13), speak, laleo (16:13, twice), declare, anangello (16:13, 14, 15). The johannine terms describe verbal actions which intend a response in others who will receive (lambano), see (theoreo), or know (ginosko) the Spirit. Such speech-terms link the Spirit with the divine Word. The Spirit's initiatives imply God's personal engagement with humanity. The Spirit comes to be with others; the teaching Spirit implies a community of learners; forgetful persons need a prompter to remind them; one testifies expecting heed to be paid; one speaks and declares in order to be heard. The articulate Spirit is the correlative of the listening, Spirit-informed community.
The final Paraclete passage closes with a threefold repetition of the verb she will declare (anangello), 16:13-15. The Spirit will declare the things that are to come (v.13), and she will declare what is Christ's (vv. 14, 15). The things of Christ are a message that must be heralded...
The intention of the Spirit of truth is the restoration of an alienated, deceived humanity... The teaching role of the Paraclete tends to be remembered as a major emphasis of the Farewell Discourses, yet only 14:26 says She will teach you all things. (Teaching is, however, implied when 16:13-15 says that the Spirit will guide you into all truth, and will speak and declare.) Franz Mussner remarks that the word used in 14:26, didaskein, "means literally 'teach, instruct,' but in John it nearly always means to reveal.” (Stevick 2011, 292-7)

“But today is the day I declare that I am the one who has to save the humanity. I declare I am the one who is Adishakti, who is the Mother of all the Mothers, who is the Primordial Mother, the Shakti, the desire of God, who has incarnated on this Earth to give its meaning to itself; to this creation, to human beings and I am sure through My Love and patience and My powers I am going to achieve it.

I was the one who was born again and again. But now in my complete form and complete powers I have come on this Earth not only for salvation of human beings, not only for their emancipation, but for granting them the Kingdom of Heaven, the joy, the bliss that your Father wants to bestow upon you.”

Guest: “Hello Mother.”
Shri Mataji: “Yes.”
Guest: “I wanted to know, is the Cool Breeze (Pneuma) that you have spoken about, you feel on the hands the Cool Wind of the Holy Spirit, as spoken about in the Bible?”
Shri Mataji: “Yes. Yes, yes, same thing, same thing. You have done the good job now, I must say.”
Interviewer: “Is it the Holy Spirit?”
Shri Mataji: “Yes, of course, is the Holy Spirit.”
Guest: “Aha... I am feeling it now on my hand through the [not clear]”
Shri Mataji: “It’s good.”
Interviewer: “Did you want to say anything more than that?”
Guest: “No, I just... That’s all I wanted to know because I...”
Shri Mataji: “Because you are thoughtless now. Enjoy yourself.”
Guest: “Thank you.”

Second Guest: “I just want to ask Mother about a quotation from the Bible.”
Interviewer: “Yes, what’s that?”
Guest: “It says, ‘But the comfort of the Holy Spirit that the Father will send in My name would teach you all things.’ I would like to ask Her about that.”
Interviewer: “Could you just repeat the quotation again?”
Guest: “But the Comforter, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, will teach you all things.”
Interviewer: “And that’s from where?”
Guest: “John chapter 14, verse 26.”
Shri Mataji: “I think you should take your realization and then you will know the answer to it. Because, logically if it points out to one person, then you have to reach the conclusion, isn’t it? That’s a logical way of looking at things. But I am not going to say anything or claim anything. It is better you people find out yourself.”
Interviewer: “Does that answer your question?”
Guest: “Is the, is the Comforter on the Earth at the present time? Has the Comforter incarnated? Mataji should be able to tell us this because She said that through these vibrations on Her hands, She ...”
Shri Mataji: “Yes, She is very much here and She’s talking to you now. Can you believe that?”
Guest: “Well, I feel something cool [Pneuma/Prana/Chi] on my hand. Is that some indication of the ...?”
Shri Mataji: “Yes, very much so. So that’s the proof of the thing. You’ve already started feeling it in your hands.”
Guest: “Can I?”
Shri Mataji: “Ask the question, ‘Mother, are you the Comforter?’”
Guest: “Mother, are you the Comforter?”
Shri Mataji: “Ask it thrice.”
Guest: “Mother, are you the Comforter?”
Shri Mataji: “Again.”
Guest: “Mother, are you the Comforter?”
Shri Mataji: “Now, what do you get?”
Guest: “Oh, I feel this kind of cool tingling [Pneuma/Prana/Chi] passing all through my body.”
Shri Mataji: “That’s the answer now.”

Shri Mataji Nirmala Devi (1923-2011): Christian by birth, Hindu by marriage and Paraclete by duty.
The Paraclete and the disciples (vv. 25-26): The theme of departure (cf. vv. 1-6; vv. 18-24) returns. There are two "times" in the experience of the disciples: the now as Jesus speaks to them (v. 25) and the future time when the Paraclete, the Holy Spirit, sent by the Father in the name of Jesus, will be with them (v. 26). The Paraclete will replace Jesus' physical presence, teaching them all things and recalling for them everything he has said (v. 26). As Jesus is the Sent One of the Father (cf. 4:34; 5:23; 24, 30, 37; 6:38-40; 7:16; 8:16, 18, 26; 12:44-49), so is the Paraclete sent by the Father. The mission and purpose of the former Paraclete, Jesus (cf. 14:13-14), who speaks and teaches "his own" will continue into the mission and purpose of the "other Paraclete" (cf. v. 16) who teaches and brings back the memory of all that Jesus has said. The time of Jesus is intimately linked with the time after Jesus, and the accepted meaning of a departure has been undermined. The inability of the disciples to understand the words and deeds of Jesus will be overcome as they "remember" what he had said (cf. 2:22) and what had been written of him and done to him (cf. 12:16). The "remembering" will be the fruit of the presence of the Paraclete with the disciples in the in-between-time. In v. 16 Jesus focused on the inability of the world to know the Paraclete, but in v. 26 the gift of the Paraclete to "his own" is developed. As Jesus was with the disciples (v. 25), so will the Paraclete be with the disciples in the midst of hostility and rejection (v. 16). As the story has insisted that Jesus' teaching has revealed God to his disciples, so will the Paraclete recall and continue Jesus' revelation of God to the disciples (v. 26).” (Harrington 1998, 412)

[Moderator]: “Any other questions?”
[Audience]: “Pardon me for asking this question, but, earlier you talked about the Resurrection and you mentioned about the scriptures, where like in the Hindus scriptures they talk about the Kalki Avatar who will come for the Resurrection, and for the Christians, I know they talk about the return of Christ and all the religions talk about this Resurrection and the belief in the coming of the Messiah. So I just want to know since you say you are going to give the resurrection to us, what is your station?”

Shri Mataji: “In Russia?”
[Audience]: “And are you the promised Messiah? Shri Mataji, are you?”
Shri Mataji: “I see now I am not going to tell you anything about myself, to be very frank. Because see Christ said He was the Son of God, and they crucified Him. I don't want to get crucified. “Jesus then goes on the offensive against the scribes and Pharisees, pronouncing seven woes against them (Matt. 23:1-36). The final woe identifiers them with all those in Israel's history who have murdered and opposed the prophets. From Abel to Zechariah, all the blood of the righteous will come on them as they typologically fulfill this pattern in the murder of Jesus (23:29-36). They are the wicked tenants who think to kill the son and take his inheritance (21:38). They are seed of the serpent, a brood of vipers (23:33). Their house (the temple?) is desolate, and they will not see Jesus again until they bless him as he comes in the name of the Lord (23:37-39). Somehow, through the judgments Jesus announces against them, salvation will apparently come even for the people of Israel. As Olmstead puts it, Matthew "dares to hope for the day when many of Israel's sons and daughters will embrace Israel's Messiah (23:39), and in that hope engages in a continued mission in her.”” Hamilton 2010, 377

The Great Goddess is both wholly transcendent and fully immanent: beyond space and time, she is yet embodied within all existent beings; without form as pure, infinite consciousness (cit) ... She is the universal, cosmic energy known as Sakti, and the psychophysical, guiding force designated as the Kundalini (Serpent Power) resident within each individual. She is eternal, without origin or birth, yet she is born in this world in age after age, to support those who seek her assistance. Precisely to provide comfort and guidance to her devotees, she presents herself in the Devi Gita to reveal the truths leading both to worldly happiness and to the supreme spiritual goals: dwelling in her Jeweled Island and mergence into her own perfect being.” (Brown, 1998, 2)

Tell them all about it. Give them the big message that the Redeemer has come now. There's no time to sit down. This is the one Who is here. Better get up now! Don't carry on with your old ideas and old things. [You] must know that this has happened.

And as I told you, the predictions can be used, you can use anything that you want to use out of Sahaja Yoga. You can tell them anything out of My speeches, whatever you want. You have every right to do what you like with My speeches. There is nothing to be afraid of, or worried about.”

1982-05-15, Puja in Brighton, You Must Understand Your Own Importance, Brighton, England

Dear Violet, Gerlinde and all,

This is the clearest and loudest call made by Shri Mataji that She is the Paraclete, and that all SYs should start declaring the Big Message. This is the first time I have heard Her using the term "Big Message".

So SYs were supposed to start doing exactly what She was doing in public, just like Jesus prior.

But were SYs too lazy? Absolutely not since most foot-soaked and bhandhaned daily!
Were SYs too illiterate to understand? Absolutely not as doctors and lawyers were present!.
Were SYs too deaf to hear? Absolutely not as 99.99% had ears that functioned well.
Were SYs too weak to speak? Absolutely not as few faced welfare or famine.
Were SYs ... .... ....? Were SYs ... .... ....? Were SYs ... .... ....? Were SYs ... .... ....? Were SYs ... .... ....? Were SYs ... .... ....? Were SYs ... .... ....? Were SYs ... .... ....? Were SYs ... .... ....? Were SYs ... .... ....? Were SYs ... .... ....?

You may twist and turn to seek answers to the countless questions that can be raised as to the reason(s) SYs did not do so.

However, Shri Mataji continued preaching and publicly declaring what SYs were asked to do .................................... month after month, year after year, and decade after decade.

Even in 2018 SYs have absolutely no desire to follow Her, even as SY collectives languish and continue to shrink worldwide. (And let me give you a shocker - there are no more than 15,000 SYs left. In fact, 10,000 would be a better estimate on the high side.)

Now let's go back two thousand years to the source of negativity and evil forces that surrounded Jesus. Having failed and about to be crucified Jesus tell his few disciples that the Paraclete will come and complete his message.

The Paraclete Shri Mataji came and, after opening the Sahasrara (Kingdom of God), began where Jesus had left. The same negativity and evil forces again surrounded Her.

Unlike the disciples of Jesus, the disciples of the Paraclete were overcome by a far more powerful negativity and evil force .............. so powerful that it induced them to blaspheme against the Holy Spirit, without ever become conscious they are doing so.

The negativity and evil forces against the Paraclete have been so successful and thorough that it defies reason. Nothing in history comes close to what has transpired.

Jesus failed and the Paraclete came so that his disciples not be orphaned. Officially, the Paraclete Shri Mataji has also failed. But before leaving She introduced us to the Divine Mother within so that we will not be orphaned.

Unlike Jesus and the Paraclete, the Divine Mother remains on Earth and continues to accompany us on this earthly journey of the Resurrection. And we can meditate on Her within ourselves - that makes all the difference of being comforted at all times. She is me!

Thus the Big Message continues, ........................ and will continue for all times.

regards,

jagbir
