Fourth Chakra: Anahat

The fourth chakra, the chakra of the heart, is the place where resides our Spirit, our true Self, which is eternally pure and unaffected by anything, like a shining diamond hidden within us which witnesses all our actions. After Self-Realization, our attention becomes for the first time connected to our Spirit and we gradually become aware of it.

Fourth Chakra Anahat
Fourth Chakra: Anahat

“The fourth centre is called as the Anahath Chakra, meaning the heart centre. It has twelve petals and is placed behind the sternum in the spinal cord. This centre produces the anti-bodies till the age of twelve years and then these anti-bodies are circulated in the whole body to be ready to fight any kind of attack on the body or on the mind. If there is any attack on the person these anti-bodies are informed through the sternum, which has a remote control of information. Heart centre caters for the cardiac plexus."

Shri Anahatabja-nilaya Devi
(Anahatabja-nilaya [485th]: She dwells in the Anahata-Chakra near the heart as Rakini.)

I am the pure form of Joy — clean; pure; immaculate. I am the Cosmic Dancer and the Master of rhythm in music. Out of My Compassion I devour the poisons of the Universe, and at the End of all things, My Dance destroys all that is not pure Spirit. I am the Destination of your spiritual seeking, Lord God of All. When My presence is awakened in you by Kundalini, you experience Me as Silence, Absolute Joy and Peace. There is no duality between My Shakti and Myself. We are inseparable, like the moon and the moonlight. OM, I am neither the mind, the intelligence, the ego, the chitta nor attention; neither the ears nor the tongue, nor the senses of smell and sigh; neither ether nor air, nor fire, nor water, nor Earth. I am eternal bliss and awareness. I am Shiva. I am Shiva.

"The Spirit is the only thing that is free within, which has no hangs-up, which has no habits, which does not stick on to anything, is completely detached and emitting joy to us. It is a thing that makes our Spirit, our attention so enlightened. Now enlightened attention, as I said, is not the attention that we understand, that"There's a light, we see the light," nothing of the kind. But with this enlightened attention our awareness becomes enlightened, so that we start feeling other people on our hands...

The centre Heart is governed by The Mother of the universe. She gives us the sense of security. When you are at the age of twelve years, you see, the bone that is in front here starts emitting antibodies, it creates antibodies within you till the age of twelve years and then these antibodies are really the soldiers of The Mother of the universe. We call Her Jagadamba in Sanskrit language, and they spread to the whole of the body and wherever there is an attack, they inform each other and they fight it out. These antibodies are created in the sternum bone in the front side of the, we can say, the ribs, where the ribs meet, thoracic region, that part, they stay there, are created till the age of twelve years. Now what happens in ladies specially, they are The Mothers also, when their motherhood is challenged, they get a problem."

Shri Mataji Nirmala Devi

When a child is born, the first thing that it responds to is the Spirit of its mother. At the moment of his birth he is not aware of his body, but he is aware of the Spirit. The moment he comes out of the womb he suffers a shock, and his first reaction is to get back to the womb. At this stage his mind, conditionings and ego aspects are non-existent. He is pure spirit, and it is this pure spirit that finds comfort in the spirit of his mother and through that comfort, sustenance in the new alien environment. This response is true or unconditional love. It is not a conditioned response, but the sheer joy of the fusion of two spirits.

QUALITY

The Heart Chakra (Anahat) is the home of the Self, the Spirit or Atma — all mean the same thing. Time and again Shri Mataji has stressed that," You are nothing but your eternal Spirit."In this way She is telling us that we have to realize and become our Spirit, and leave behind the futility of the illusion we live in. We start the process of becoming our Spirit after Self-Realization, as we start to lose our false identifications with our body, mind and feelings. Only after this enlightenment can we take our Attention to our heart and cleanse it. The Spirit can only manifest when our heart is open and clean, at which point we feel the eternal Joy of Creation and the meaning and purpose of our place in it. If functioning properly, it enables us to feel our Self-Transcendence, generate and radiate love. The state of vibrations maintains and revitalizes our own human systems as well as those of others.

Pure love, which enlightens all, is the real quality of the Heart Chakra. In the unrealized state we rarely love for love's sake. Because of our conditioning we confuse feelings of love with those of possession, sex and selfishness. Pure love is detached and gives without motive. True love is the quality that emanates from the Spirit and not from the body or mind. Bodily attraction is physical and the mind does not love — it merely wants. When the want of the mind is attained, then the novelty wears off. For instance a child is excited and attached to a new toy, but after a few days, as the novelty wears off, the excitement dies. The same occurs with relationships which are based simply on physical attraction. That which is illusory cannot love or be loved.

Love is often mistakenly taken as restricted to male and female. In fact Love is the flow of life is all limbs, between children/parents, brothers/sisters, friends, senior citizens etc. Where many people share and care, then the whole society opens up its Heart centre. It becomes a collective society and changes the world. This is the power of Love. Love is the principle behind all Creation. We say that God is Love and love is God because in its depths we cease to be. In true Love there is no"I"And no"You"— there is simply the merging of the Spirit. In this state we experience true human unity, the true oneness of life. Physically we can appear as different colors, shapes, characteristics, but as we become the Spirit the drop becomes the Ocean.

TRADITION

The seat of the Heart Chakra (Anahat) is located in the Brahmarandhra at the crown of the head (in the Sahasrara). This is where Shri Gauri (Kundalini) in Her form of Shri Parvati is united with Shri Shiva. Shri Shiva presides as the Witness in the left Heart Chakra, controlling our very existence. This centre, therefore, has to be treated with the greatest respect and understanding. In the centre Heart Chakra resides Shri Jagdamba, The Mother of the Universe. Here, in our faith in The Mother aspect, rests our sense of security and protection. Lord Rama inhabits the right Heart Chakra. He exhibited the ideals of behavior as a husband, son, brother and ruler. He re-established the status of women in the household, and clarified the principles of Dharma. He also exemplified the boundaries of conduct within which we should operate in order to deepen our spiritual growth. These guidelines show us the power of discrimination and help us protect the protocol of the Spirit.

GROSS PHYSICAL ASPECT

Using the body as an instrument of athletic display fatigues the Heart centre. Excessive athletic competition simply develops into an ego-oriented thing, with no real gain at the end of it. In a similar way modern Hatha yoga is a form of athleticism which has no correlation with the Spirit, and this too can harm the centre. Unfortunately today Hatha yoga is mistaken for spirituality and people spend hours doing all kinds of asanas (positions). By standing on our heads (or wearing white/saffron robes or being vegetarian or whatever) we are not going to know the Almighty Creator.

Causes of catch or obstruction on left little finger

A "catch" is an imbalance. If we feel heat or tingling, or maybe even numbness in our fingertips, it means that our kundalini is alerting us to an imbalance in a particular chakra.

'Your left little finger will speak' when there is extreme physical or mental activity, heartfelt bad relations (especially mother's), no confidence in God, anti-God activities, outside attention, no seeking, no interest in self.

OPENING THE ANAHAT CHAKRA

Those who wish to open their Anahat Chakra are advised to follow instructions #16-18 of this Self-Realization link. The Mother Kundalini will rise from the base Mooladhara Chakra and, after awakening all the chakras on Her path, reach the Sahasrara Chakra. There will be two self-verifiable signs of this kundalini awakening and opening of the chakras:

i) feeling Cool Breeze of Spirit (ruach, pneuma, ruh, shekinah, chaitanya) from top of head and/or;
ii) feeling Cool Breeze of Spirit (ruach, pneuma, ruh, shekinah, chaitanya) from fingertips/palm of hands.

You are assured of your own Divine Kundalini/Mother/Spirit within giving Self-Realization and opening your chakras provided you follow those instructions. That assurance in the form of Cool Breeze, which is self-verifiable, manifests due to a far higher spiritual evolution. Rest assured that this experience is absolutely without any side-effects whatsoever.

On the contrary, your own Divine Mother/Holy Spirit within will over the years lead you to a state of mind, bliss, peace, knowledge and spiritual journey that has no parallel. This second birth of the Spirit/Mother Kundalini commences the promised Resurrection and, upon physical 'death', evolution into the eternal spirit as demonstrated by Jesus Christ and upheld, albeit with different wordings and interpretations, by the holy scriptures of Judaism, Christianity, Islam, Hinduism and Sikhism.

But Jesus insists that for all this to manifest one must be born of the Spirit (Mother Kundalini), and the sure sign of that spiritual birth from within oneself will be the Cool Breeze (Wind):

COOL BREEZE (WIND) AND BEING BORN OF THE SPIRIT

Jesus Christ
Jesus and Nicodemus
John 3:1-8

1. Now there was a man of the Pharisees, named Nicodemus, a ruler of the Jews;
2. this man came to Jesus by night and said to Him, "Rabbi, we know that You have come from God as a teacher; for no one can do these signs that You do unless God is with him."
3. Jesus answered and said to him, "Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born again he cannot see the kingdom of God."
4. Nicodemus said to Him, "How can a man be born when he is old? He cannot enter a second time into his mother's womb and be born, can he?”
5. Jesus answered, "Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born of water and the Spirit he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.
6. "That which is born of the flesh is flesh, and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit.
7. "Do not be amazed that I said to you, 'You must be born again.'
8. "The wind blows where it wishes and you hear the sound of it, but do not know where it comes from and where it is going; so is everyone who is born of the Spirit."

The Holy Spirit and the Renewal of All Things Pneumatology in Paul and Jurgen Moltmann
"Experience of the Spirit is of great importance to believers, and this is natural, if the Spirit is the source of new, eschatological life. However, experience of the Spirit must also take its place within a larger context. For every present encounter with the Spirit is one instant in a long history of pneumatic activity. Forgetting this point results in an overblown evaluation of the significance of experiences of the Spirit. It also results in those experiences losing much of their meaning. The Spirit encountered today is the same Spirit that spoke through the prophets, empowered Jesus and the apostles, and will someday bring about the complete transformation of all things. It is the eschatological Spirit. To experience the Spirit is to be drawn up into this pneumatic movement. Therefore, any experience of the Spirit must take its meaning from this larger historical context." (Beck 2007, 237)

Cool Breeze (Wind) experiences of those born of the Spirit
Judith Coney is a lecturer in the Department of Study of Religions at the School of Oriental and African Studies, University of London. She published her book in 1999 prior to this website and refrained from mentioning the eschatological significance of the "cool breeze" experiences felt by hundreds of thousands since the 1970's till date.

Judith Coney: Sahaja Yoga
"The result, in all three settings [Royal Albert Hall, local meeting or private house], is that many people do feel a cool breeze. The coolness which is felt is usually associated with other sensations as well. Typically, the pupils of the eyes can be observed to dilate and the person will feel very relaxed and 'centred.' However, it is notable that, despite the very similar ways in which individuals 'get their realisation'—and even in the same setting—not everybody feels exactly the same thing. Sri Mataji teaches that the vibrations of kundalini can be felt as cool breeze on the palm of the hands and above the head. Sometimes breezes, in line with the teachings, are felt on the hands and head specifically. For others, the experience is more generalized:

The experience was extremely timeless, because I felt that it only lasted for about five minutes but somebody came behind me and said 'would you like a cup of tea' and I thought, 'this is silly, what's all this about tea?; But it turned out that it was about three quarters of an hour later. And I felt a strong cool breeze. I was actually told; you will probably feel some coolness or some nice feelings inside' but I felt coolness not just in my hands, where I was told it would be, but all over and I felt incredibly peaceful.

Generally, the feeling of coolness on 'realisation' seems to be discernible, but relatively weak. As with Kakar's description of his own 'realisation', many newcomers are left with the feeling that they felt something but they are not sure what:

Mataji grandly announced, 'He is realised' ... 'Sit in meditation for some time' she told me as I sat up. 'Do you feel a cool breeze on the top of your head and on your palms?' Indeed I did, though I could not distinguish the coolness due to kundalini from the gutsy breeze coming in from the sea. I felt well, though, calm and deeply relaxed. (Kakar 1984, 195-6)

A few, however, have an extremely strong experience. One such incident was described by one of the participating Sahaja Yogis:

He felt really cool, not just on his hands but all over. He said: 'This isn't a breeze, it's a wind'. We all felt it really strongly too. Then we picked up Mother's photograph and held it in front of him and he felt loads of vibrations coming from that. But I think the whole thing was so strong that it frightened him. He was very high and positive for two days, he brought us some flowers, and then he became wary and never came to [the ashram] again.

Others still, in contrast, do not feel much, if anything, on their first session. This lack of feeling on their part, however, may not be shared by the Sahaja Yogis 'working on them', who may remark enthusiastically about how cool the individual feels, and may also be at odds with the view of Sri Mataji herself. Here is the description of his initial contact with Sahaja Yoga by one such follower. He first went to a meeting at which Sri Mataji gave 'realisation' en masse, but felt nothing. Nevertheless, he was persuaded to go to a smaller workshop a few days later.

I really didn't feel anything there at all either but I was told by Mataji herself-she said 'Who hasn't felt it yet?' and I put my hand up with a few others. Mataji said 'Come forward' and then she said to me 'You've got it, you know'. And I said 'Have I?' and she said 'Yes, go through to that room and ask some Sahaja Yogis to work on you'. So that was my introduction to Sahaja Yoga.

It was only with repeated sessions that he developed the ability to feel a cool breeze. There are also those, a few, who may feel more calm, possibly as a result of sitting quietly for some time, but otherwise feel no different and never feel any sort of breeze. This is often explained by Sahaja Yogis as being because the chakras have been too badly damaged by negativity in the past (Rajasekharan and Venkatesan 1992, 98).

Kakar (1984, 208), a trained Freudian psychologist, having witnessed Sri Mataji's delivery of 'realisation' both en masse and on a one-to-one basis, concluded that much of this experience is built on suggestion and 'hypnotic induction':

Needless to add, because of the emotional pressures created in a group setting, the tendency to identify with the experience of other group members and the intense desire to please the leader, only a handful of people hold out against this mass suggestion. (ibid., 209)

Such a conclusion would undoubtedly be rejected by a Sahaja Yogi, convinced that they have experienced their Spirit through the grace of Sri Mataji. It is not within the remit of my present enquiry, however, to seek to establish the 'real cause' of a cool breeze felt by an individual, but to try chart the social dynamics involved. Just as Goodman commented, in relation to religious experience:

The religious practitioners argue for it, either because it is part of their dogma, or because, as they affirm, they have 'been there', they have experienced it. The hard scientists take the opposite position, again as a matter of conviction... As social scientists, our situation is a happier one: at least we can state that, without any doubt, the alternate reality is a social one. (Goodman 1988, 43)."

Since the 1970's tens of thousands of Sahaja Yogis "have [daily] experienced their Spirit through the grace of Sri Mataji... they affirm, they have 'been there', they have experienced it."

“The Cool Breeze coming out of your head, that's called as Chaitanya Lahari, that's called Cool Breeze of the Holy Ghost. When John the Baptist talked about baptism, he meant this. He didn't mean the way we do baptism, to just call somebody, put some water on the head, and say 'Oh, you're baptized. That's just a drama. Baptism is a living process."

“The Cool Breeze is all around us and we can start feeling in our hands when the Kundalini emerges from the top of the head if our Vishuddhi is alright. This is what Christ meant by 'to be born again' and not just to call some people and say 'Alright, now we have some baptism.'"

“As prophesied in the scriptures, the phase of Last Judgment has started. The testing ground is of great illusion (Mahamaya). Kundalini is the indicator of our balance and wisdom. She will evaluate, correct and evolve us. Sahaja Yoga gives you a chance to be fully your meaning. Take full advantage of it. Establish your attention in the Absolute (Atman) and achieve the life eternal in the Kingdom of God."

The Divine Mother (Holy Spirit)
The Divine Mother in this Age has
come in the form of Shri Mataji
(1923-2011) Who, as the promised
Paraclete, brought closure to Jesus'
message of the Kingdom of God
and commenced the Resurrection.
For Hindus, Sikhs and others that
should be understood as Kundalini
awakening and Atma jnana that is
absolutely essential for moksa.
My essence is complete innocence in thought, word, and action. I came many times in the form of prophets, saints and gurus of each and every religion, giving you laws and principles whose observance gave inner balance and harmony.

Today when Kundalini awakens My presence in you (second spiritual 'birth'/'being born again' of Spirit), religion is no more a belief—it becomes a living state within. As you become the childlike disciple of your Mother, I make you your own master and in this lifetime strive to liberate you from ceaseless rebirths on this Earth (moksa) and lead you to residence and life eternal in My heavenly Paradise (Kingdom of God). These few names of mine confirm that I reside within you and so will be able to fulfill that promise:

Shri Kundalini
Kundalini [110th] She is coiled like a serpent. She is stated to assume 3 1/2 coils - the form in which Sri Lalita resides in sacrum bone of every human as potential state.
Shri Muladharambujarudha Devi
(Muladharambujarudha [514th]: She is mounted on the four-petalled Muladhara-Padma at the level of the anus.)
Shri Svadhisthananambuja-gata Devi
(Svadhisthananambuja-gata: [504th]: Resides in the six-petalled Svadhisthana-Chakra at the level of the sex organ. This name means Herself resides as Fire in that Chakra.)
Shri Manipurabja-nilaya Devi
(Manipurabja-nilaya [495th]: She has Manipurna-Padma as Her abode near the navel. This Padma has ten petals.)
Shri Anahatabja-nilaya Devi
(Anahatabja-nilaya [485th]: She dwells in the Anahata-Chakra near the heart as Rakini.)
Shri Visuddhi-Chakra-nilaya Devi
(Visuddhi-chakra-nilaya [475th]: Dwelling in the Visuddha Padma of 16 petals.)
Shri Agnya-Chakrabja-nilaya Devi
(Agnya-chakrabja-nilaya (521st): Resides in the two-petalled Agnya-chakra. Residing in this Chakra, She controls various organs (Indriyas). Hence, it is known as Agnya-Chakra situated between the eye-brows.)
Shri Sahasra-dala-padmastha Devi
(Sahasra-dala-padmastha [528th]: Residing in the Thousand-Petaled Lotus.)

GENERAL ADVICE FROM SHRI MATAJI

The most effective way to clear or heal chakra problems ("catch" or obstruction) is to put attention on the affected chakra during meditation and allow The Mother Kundalini to heal. Remain in the thoughtless state while you work on the affected chakra. Always remember this quote of Shri Mataji:

“Kundalini will rise and She will cleanse you completely. Kundalini will rise and always cleanse the chakras."

The Messiah-Paraclete-Ruh-Devi
Sydney, Australia—March 31, 1991

“I would say, with this, today's special celebration of Navaratri. Like yesterday you saw Shri Durga's nine forms, also. In that, one is Kushmanda, is one of the forms, that you absorb all the filth in yourself, in your stomach. But the Devi does that, not you. What the Devi can do, you should not do. That's her job, that She is supposed to do this, not you. What you have to do is to only be in silence so that you absorb whatever will increase that silence, will increase your depth. The Devi will look after all the rest of the things, she'll look after all the filth, all the anger, all the temper, all the everything that's going on in this world. She will absorb all that, but what you have to do is to just enjoy everything that is pure.

Enjoyment is only possible when you are beyond your mind. With your mind you can never enjoy. It is like a big load. It will not act, it will not help. Enjoyment comes when you are in complete silence, in a rippleless lake, the reflection of all the joy that is created on the shores of that lake are completely reflected, they are not deflected. If they were repulsed it would have been a different image altogether, and would have been something nowhere near the image of reality."

Navaratri Puja. Cabella Ligure, Italy—October 1, 1995

Once this is power is established no external rituals are required as catches will be healed instantly and constantly by The Mother Kundalini within. Until and unless external cleansing rituals are discarded this power will never be established. On the contrary, all these rituals only make matters worse according to Shri Mataji:

“The people who think that they can control their ego will eat less or use all types of methods to control ego. For example, someone is standing on one leg or other one on his head, all types of efforts they are doing to reduce their ego.

But with all these techniques, ego doesn't vanish. On the contrary, ego increases. Fasting, reciting the names, increases your ego. With Havans also ego increases because Agni, fire, is the right side element. Anything which is rituals increases your ego.

Human being thinks that they are alright, since they are doing these rituals since thousand years. All the wrong teachings they are still following. For this reason Sahaja Yoga is against Karma Kanda, that is rituals. No need to do any kind of Karma Kanda.

And to go to the extreme point is also dangerous. I had asked them to shoe-beat to destroy their ego and what I see that every morning all the Sahaja Yogis go in the line with their shoes for shoe-beatings. But I had asked to do this if you have ego in you.

All these rituals have entered into Sahaja Yoga. I got somebody in France with the list of the treatments of Vashi hospital. But that was for sick peoples. This is the nature of human being to follow the rituals because he thinks that he can do it."

Question: How do we prevent Sahaja Yoga from becoming a cult?

Shri Mataji: What is it?

Question: How do we prevent Sahaja Yoga from becoming a cult? [unclear] compromise [unclear].

Shri Mataji: Yes, it's possible. Because, you see, you think, "I'm catching. I'm catching." This madness has come also in sahaja yogis. This will become really cultish stuff, you see. It will really become a cult. Nonsense! What are you catching? You have pure vibrations. You give realization to anyone. None of your chakras catch anybody else. Everybody thinks, "I'm pure" – what it is they say?”¬ "holier than holy." What is catching, what? All such dainty darlings are no good. "I'm catching. I don't want to catch." All this nonsense will be definitely cultish. You have to be brave warriors. What is catching? "I don't want to give vibrations with this catching. I don't want to do it." All right, use the photograph to begin with. But if you have to do it, you should not be frightened. You are swords!

It is true, Gavin, what you said. It's very true. But you look after that part, that none of them should become that, "I'm catching this and I'm catching that and I don't like this and I don't like sahaja yogis doing this." This is all wrong! This will make a big cult out of it, you see. Of course, that's not possible. You try such tricks and you will know what it means. That won't be possible though. But be careful; you'll go out of gear. Nobody has to form a cult. Everybody who is coming to Sahaja Yoga has to be absolutely with full both the arms stretched out, "Come along," just like your Mother. I should be the greatest cult Myself. Why should I bother about anybody else, you see? This catching business should drop out from your mouth. Everybody comes and says, "I caught it from him. I caught up from them." I'm amazed! How can you catch up from anyone? What are you? A dainty darling or what? Now no more it is going to be tolerated, "I caught up from that." Go and beat yourself with shoes. You are such a dainty darling! That's what you need then. You know how to do it. Nobody should say, "I'm catching." Also neglect these things completely. The more your attention you pay them, the more they sit on your head. Just neglect. Go ahead.

What Paul has pointed out is true. This is very common in England , not in India . Nobody says that, nobody. I've not heard one person saying, "I'm catching from that person." Never. They say, "This is my weakness so I must have felt for that." They never say like that. You see, this is specialty, you see, putting the blame on others. This is typical Ego style business. Put the blame on others as if you are pure and you have caught up from another! It's your weakness. That's all what you should think about. You are brave people. You have to be very, very brave. Without bravery how are we going to do Sahaja Yoga? Just tell Me. You have to love with bravery. In love you don't think and consider and all these things. Just go ahead. Such a powerful thing to love someone! Such person should not be there and such person should not do that. Nothing? Now those people who come for the first time, all are not so much they may not have proper protocol. That doesn't mean that you get after their heads. Otherwise, it will become a cult. First thing is consideration of others. And understanding that they are not realized, they are not enlightened. This is very important. You must understand this. They are not enlightened as yet, they have not got their vibrations, they haven't got their vibratory awareness. To get angry with them is wrong, absolutely wrong. What else? Now, that's a good point. One more point you can ask Me. Some people are coming. Also do not allow your weaknesses to sit on your heads.

For example, some people have a habit of telling Me, "Mother I had this, I was this, I went there and still that is lingering into Me." Then you are absolutely useless! Why don't you take it out? Finish off. Like that. "Still I've been to this yogi, I've been to that yogi, I've done this, I've done that." Done, finished. In the present time you are pure Spirit. Become that. What is there to be proud of these nonsensical things? They are not parallel to Spirit. When the Spirit shines then darkness has to go away. If there is still darkness that means something wrong with you, and if you are wrong, then what are you boasting about? I mean, people have a habit of boasting. Try to be alert and loving. Loving and alert. You have to be really alert."

The Great Adi Shakti Shri Mataji Nirmala Devi
The Paraclete Shri Mataji
“Now this left hand side of the heart is concerned with your Mother and with Shiva, the existence, you get your existence through your Mother, and Shiva and Parvati, they are your parents, both of them are your parents as far as your existence is concerned, and it is such a beautiful centre is your heart centre. You want that somebody should yield, or something you find somebody very obstinate, well I have told you that you can beat them with shoes, do all those things, but there's a very simple way if you know how to do it, you see, just think of their, their heart, and put a bandhan to that, and you can do it so beautifully you can melt a person without any difficulties if you know how to handle their heart. You have to appeal to their heart and that's the best attraction I tell you and the west secret method by which you can bring good in them when you are talking to somebody. Supposing I, now intellectually if I start quarrelling with you, you will give me up in no time, but I have to use your heart power, and I have to enter into your heart and that is how it works.

So always when you want to do something like that, just humble down yourself in your heart, that is first, first of all you must humble down yourself in your heart and from then you work on the heart of others. Just put a bandhan and you will see, a person will melt away. We melt our intelligence, our ego, everything, even our superego, in your heart. So it's a very easy thing if you know how to approach people through their heart, and that is only possible if you are genuine, because genuineness is something that a heart recognises. You can befool a person with your cunning methods, but the heart will recognise it later on, and the person will hate you. Even if you talk to someone oh, very nice, oh very good, thank you very much, very nice ... and the heart knows. Oh he's trying to befool me, and he's very cunning. The heart's going to hate such a person and heart has ether eyes to see and feel the person, so if you could appeal to somebody's heart and put a bandhan on the heart you can melt that person and if you love someone and if you want that person should be corrected, supposing such a person is a drunkard or a person who beats you and is torturing you because he's under the spell of some drugs or some sort of a foreign thing then you just put bandhan to his heart and you will see, they will change, they will change him very fast, and that's why you say 'change of heart', everywhere you find, in every scripture, it is written, a change of heart is needed, not a change of clothes, so it's not intellectual changing, but it is the change of heart, and that is brought about by moving the heart chakra on the right hand side in the clockwise manner, that is the heart itself in the clockwise manner. If you can do that, you can really do marvels, and that's how on a collective basis, the heart is sort of the innermost, innermost string of the collective one string that is passing through all of us. So if you could strike at the innermost, because in a 3 1\2 circle that's the innermost part. If you touch there, it passes over the... Supposing you touch somewhere else then it might break, but at the beginning if you start striking it, it goes very nicely and passes into complete circumference.

Now the centre one I have told you is the heart plexus which we call as cardial plexus, and it has got ten sub-plexuses, and the English names for that are, again I'm going to give you the complete list, I don't know when we'll have time to go through the medical journal, but I'll find out all all of them, and I'm going to tell you what they all it in, in medical terminology. But they know that there are ten sub-plexuses which are supplying to the muscles of the heart, to the lungs, and to the right side lungs, and that's how it divided. But they do not know that it is already three parts, and then there are ten petals which are working it out, I'm sorry twelve petals, I'll talk about later. So three divided into twelve is four each side. But actually it is not so. It is the ten petals are together in the centre, and the centre one is known as the a«sacred hearta». In the bible it is called as a«sacred hearta», and this sacredness of that heart in the abstract form is The Motherly love of God. That's why the Jagadamba, Mother of the Universe, resides there. And these, those twelve petals act according to the Mother Earth, the heart, and that's why we cannot allot them to this side or that side, because it is She who actually makes them pulsate, so here She becomes a dominant person and not the heart, there the spirit rules.

So spirit rules by itself, and it is ruled with the help of the reflection of God Almighty, Himself. It is on its own, it is arbitrary. It sees, it watches, it is the witness. It watches the play of these ten petals, 12 petals here, but if it finds that there's too much of strain on the centre one, it just switches off, and when it's switched off, the whole thing stops."

“The Heart Chakra or Anahat Chakra

The fourth chakra, the chakra of the heart, is the place where resides our Spirit, our true Self, which is eternally pure and unaffected by anything, like a shining diamond hidden within us which witnesses all our actions. After Self-Realization, our attention becomes for the first time connected to our Spirit and we gradually become aware of it. Our misidentifications with our ego or conditionings drop and we start becoming identified with our Spirit, which is our true nature.

On the physical level, this chakra looks after our heart and lungs — if affected it can cause asthma or various heart conditions.

It is from our heart that the compassion and love manifests, and also the heart chakra is the one that gives us the sense of responsibility and pure behaviour towards others. The heart chakra manifests in the center (at the level of the sternum bone) as complete security and confidence. All our worries, doubts and fears are destroyed when the heart chakra is fully enlightened by the Kundalini."

"The Heart chakra has three different aspects:

On the left side it is associated with the Spirit. The Spirit is what we truly are. Before we get our Self-realisation in Sahaja Yoga we tend to identify with our body, our mind or our emotions, forgetting our true nature. A poem which describes the Spirit in a very beautiful way is Tad Niskala by Adi Shankaracharya. When we allow our Spirit to manifest in our lives we experience joy, bliss and love. On the other hand, those who go to extremes of physical or mental activities can damage this centre, in some cases resulting in heart attacks. To nurture this centre we need to remain balanced and in a non-reactive witness state. By meditating regularly and asking ourselves"Where is my attention?”throughout the day we can prevent our awareness from being frittered away. The left Heart chakra is affected by our relationship with our mother. Problems in the left Heart chakra manifest as a tingling in the little finger on the left hand.

The right Heart chakra is affected by our relationship with our father. This centre, when functioning correctly ensures that we stay within the boundaries of good conduct. Problems in the right Heart chakra manifest as a tingling in the little finger on the right hand.

In the centre it is associated with our sense of security. If the left and right centres are affected this also results in the centre chakra being affected."

Anahata Chakra (Heart); Gevurah-Hesed

"Anahata operates at the level of the soul and symbolically relates to the awakening of the heart. It is important to remember the warning about the barrier: 'The second psychic knot is located at this heart centre. It represents the bondage of emotional attachment, the tendency to live one's life making decisions on the strength of the emotions rather than in the light of the spiritual quest.'

Awakening this chakra is the key to fate and freewill."Anahata chakra is almost completely beyond empirical dimensions. One depends solely upon the power of one's own consciousness rather than on anything that is external or concerning faith. In Anahata chakra, the freedom to escape from a preordained fate and to determine one's own destiny becomes reality."As such, it is said that there is a wish fulfilling tree in this chakra.

It seems that awakening of a chakra follows the pattern of the Lightning Flash on the Tree. In Anahata the negative tendencies of Gevurah usually surface first, like fear and pessimistic attitudes towards life. One has to remember the power of wish fulfilling at this level in order not to manifest negative wishes. 'It is important to have a firm and alert control over the mental tendencies and fantasies of the mind.'

In order to move on, one needs to cultivate the qualities of Hesed. A positive way of thinking is vital. Also enjoying the arts at their best can be helpful."Anahata chakra awakens refined emotion in the brain and its awakening is characterized by a feeling of universal, unlimited love for all beings."

Heart (Anahat) Chakra

"Heart is the home of Self, Soul, Spirit, Atma, all one and meaning the same. Time and time again Her Holiness Shri Mataji has told us : "You are nothing but your eternal Spirit."as if according to Her, Spirit is the only thing we had to become and realise, as if the rest becomes futile. Mother (physical) plays a very important role in your heartfelt emotions and this affects the quality of your seeking.

After realisation, losing our false identifications with body, mind, feelings, we really become that Spirit. With enlightenment alone we can take our attention to our heart and cleanse it. The Spirit can only manifest where the heart is open and clean and into such a vessel it pours eternal joy of perfecting the purpose and meaning of the creation, of our meaning. We have to clean our hearts through our attention, and by reciting mantras like 'I am the Spirit' we can gradually become that (of course, this is after realisation - before realisation everything is mechanical.) Shri Mataji says, 'What is the use of using a phone which is not connected to the mains (all pervading power)?'

In the Sahastrara, the seat of the heart chakra is placed in the brahmarandra at the crown of the head. This is where the union of the individual consciousness through the Kundalini is united with the universal consciousness.

This centre has to be treated with the greatest respect and understanding. Subjecting the heart to undue exertion in our day-today life should be conscientiously avoided. For instance, so-called ascetic disciplines, prolonged mental or heavy physical labour, or Westernised Hatha Yoga without any consideration of God's love which concentrates on developing the body alone, at the expense of the spirit. If we have gone against the Spirit, or God Almighty, we can awaken it after realisation by asking forgiveness. Problems in the centre arising out of in-security can cause palpitations and breast problems.

Real security means more than just a favourable environment. The left side of the heart chakra is also affected by our own physical mother, while our father has his place in the right heart. Once we realise that our parents have this place within us, then we do not try to escape or just to run away from the problems in the family. H.H. Shri Mataji says we actually choose our parents, in which case we must also be aware of our responsibilities towards them. At all times we should treat them with the love and great respect which is their due. Parents, whose children have their places in their own hearts, should raise them in a pure life properly suited to their spiritual development. They should love them without attachment or fear, knowing that they are the trustees of their children, who are to get their realisation or who may be born with it. If the parents do not practise what they preach, they cannot influence their children. They should be brave and respectable to be respected.

At the right Heart we have embeded the auspicious and gracious boundaries by which human beings should live and be governed. These boundaries we need when we seek to know the Spirit. When the attention is not contained in any boundaries, it spreads indiscriminately like a shallow puddle on the ground. When we keep within the boundaries, it cuts deep like a river and our attention deepens within.

Pure love, which enlightens all, is the true quality of the Heart. In the unrealised state, we rarely love for love's sake. Because of our conditioning, we confuse feelings of love with those of possession, sex and selfishness, and the object of love becomes the object of desire. Pure love is detached. It gives without interest. Like the tree which gives shade to one and all, it is without prejudice. Like the river, it just flows. Her Holiness Shri Mataji says : "I will tell you again and again that Sahaja Yoga is nothing but a manifestation of love, love, love."
