25. Age of Aquarius Has Begun
Shri Mataji Nirmala Devi was
Christian by birth, Hindu by
marriage, and Paraclete by duty.
"The Paraclete represents direct,
intimate divine intervention,
supporting and teaching
believers and challenging the
world, as Jesus did." (D. Stevick
Jesus and His Own, 2011, 290)
'This age will be an age of splendour and of light, because it is the home of the Holy Breath; and the Holy Breath will testify anew for Christ, the Logos of the eternal Love. At first of every age this Logos is made manifest in flesh so man can see and know and comprehend a Love that is not narrow, circumscribed.'
What is the Aquarian Age? According to Eva S. Dowling the"human race is to-day standing upon the cusp of the Piscean-Aquarian Ages. Aquarius is an air sign and the New Age is already noted for remarkable inventions for the use of air, electricity, magnetism, etc. Men navigate the air as fish do the sea, and send their thoughts spinning around the world with the speed of lightning. The word Aquarius is derived from the Latin word aqua, meaning water. Aquarius is however, the water bearer, and the symbol of the sign, which is the eleventh sign of the Zodiac, is a man carrying in his right hand a pitcher of water. Jesus referred to the beginning of the Aquarian Age in these words: And then the man who bears the pitcher will walk forth across an arc of heaven; the sign and signet of the Son of Man will stand forth in the eastern sky. The wise will then lift up their heads and know that the redemption of the earth is near.'" (Aquarian Gospel 157: 29, 30.) The Aquarian Age is pre-eminently a spiritual age, and the spiritual side of the great lessons that Jesus gave to the world may now be comprehended by multitudes of people, for the many are now coming into an advanced stage of spiritual consciousness; so with much propriety this book is called The Aquarian (or Spiritual) Gospel of Jesus, the Christ."— Dan Costian (Ph.D), Bible Enlightened (1995, 261-2)
"So, now a New Age has started which is called the Age of Aquarius, meaning the pitcher carrier of spiritual holy water that is the work of Kundalini."
"Now very interesting it is to see that this Kundalini is the one which is called as the Kumbha in Sanskrit language, means the Aquarius. We call it Aquarius, as one of the signs, and is the same as Kumbha in Sanskrit language. So it is the Age of Aquarius, is the Age of the Kundalini. Secondly is the Age of the Kundalini which will nourish, which is The Mother within you, which will rise, will give you the completeness of it, and which will connect you with your Spirit which ultimately gives you the enlightenment by which you become 'collectively conscious'. You become, again I say. It's not just telling a story. You just become!"
September 16, 1983
"These days there are people who are going all over the places to find out the truth, the enlightenment. And there are so many books available, so many people who talk about enlightenment. And this is only in this special age, which I call as the Blossom Time, is happening. If they are not seeking the truth, that means they are not yet evolved as this should have been. But this is a special time that we call as the Last Judgment and that time has come. In the Koran it's called as Qiyamah and described very clearly what will happen at this time. All these have been indicated in all the books which are, I would say, mystical or we can call as religious—whatever you may call it—the mystic part of it. They've all indicated this time, this time by the end of this century, this should happen."
The Blossom Time, Royal Albert Hall, London, UK—July 5, 1998
The gospel described the beginning of the Aquarian
(= the one that bears the pitcher of water) Age as
follows: "And then the man who bears the pitcher will
walk across an arc of heaven. The sign and signet of
the Son of man stands forth in the eastern sky. The
wise will then lift up their heads and know that the
redemption of the earth is near" (157.29,30.) And
the accompanying footnote explained: "From the
beginning of this age, i.e. from this moment on,
more and more people will try to understand the
spirit of the Gospel instead of merely following its
text. When the largest part of the human race has
been penetrated by this spirit, to which this book
makes its contribution, mankind will undoubtedly
be in the Aquarian Age. That's why the Aquarian
Gospel was given its present title."- Dan Costian
The Paraclete and Aquarius: the Age of the Holy Breath
"Rudolf Bultmann ... calls the coming of the Redeemer (Paraclete) an"eschatological event," "The turning-point of the ages.""- George Eldon Ladd
"The reaction of the world to the Paraclete will be much the same as the world's reaction was to Jesus."- Berard L. Marthaler
"But She—the Spirit, the Paraclete ...—will teach you everything."- Danny Mahar
"The functions of the Paraclete spelled out in verses 13-15... are all acts of open and bold speaking in the highest degree."- David Fleer
"They will be privileged to know the Paraclete, as they have known Jesus (14:7, 9, 17). The Spirit will be within the disciples and will remain with them"- Robert Creech
The Paraclete's"Appearance means that sin, righteousness, and judgment will be revealed."- Georg Strecker
"The pneumatological activity ... of the Paraclete ... may most helpfully be considered in terms of the salvific working of the hidden Spirit."- Michael Welker
"Because of the presence of the Paraclete in the life of the believer, the blessings of the end-times—the eschaton—are already present"- Robert Kysar
"The Paraclete Communicating
By the Paraclete, God imparts God. It is by the outgoing activity of the Spirit that the divine life communicates itself in and to the creation. The Spirit is God-in-relations. The Paraclete is the divine self-expression which will be and abide with you, and be in you (14:16-17). The Sprit's work is described in terms of utterance: teach you, didakso (14:26), remind you, hypomimnesko (14:26), testify, martyro (15:26), prove wrong, elencho (16:8), guide into truth, hodego (16:13), speak, laleo (16:13, twice), declare, anangello (16:13, 14, 15). The johannine terms describe verbal actions which intend a response in others who will receive (lambano), see (theoreo), or know (ginosko) the Spirit. Such speech-terms link the Spirit with the divine Word. The Spirit's initiatives imply God's personal engagement with humanity. The Spirit comes to be with others, the teaching Spirit implies a community of learners; forgetful persons need a prompter to remind them; one testifies expecting heed to be paid; one speaks and declares in order to be heard. The articulate Spirit is the correlative of the listening, Spirit-informed community.
The final Paraclete passage closes with a threefold repetition of the verb she will declare (anangello), 16:13-15. The Spirit will declare the things that are to come (v.13), and she will declare what is Christ's (vv. 14, 15). The things of Christ are a message that must be heralded. The Spirit is a proclaimer, an evangelist to the church."
Daniel B. Stevick, Jesus and His Own: A Commentary on John 13-17
Wm. B. Eerdmans Publishing Company (April 29, 2011), pp. 294-95
4. And Jesus spoke again unto the eleven and said, Grieve not because I go away, for it is best that I should go away. If I go not the Comforter will not come to you.
5. These things I speak while with you in the flesh, but when the Holy Breath shall come in power, lo, she will teach you more and more, and bring to your remembrance all the words that I have said to you.
6. There are a multitude of things yet to be said; things that this age cannot receive, because it cannot comprehend.
7. But, lo, I say, Before the great day of the Lord shall come, the Holy Breath will make all mysteries known—
8. The mysteries of the soul, of life, of death, of immortality; the oneness of a man with every other man and with his God.
9. Then will the world be led to truth, and man will be the truth.
10. When she has come, the Comforter, she will convince the world of sin, and of the truth of what I speak, and of the judgement of the just; and then the prince of carnal life will be cast out.
11. And when the Comforter shall come I need not intercede for you; for you will stand approved, and God will know you then as he knows me.
Aquarian Gospel of Jesus the Christ 162:4-11
The Paraclete Shri Mataji The Life Eternal
"What are you searching? Why are you aimlessly and listlessly running about? The joy that you have searched in material gains, the joy that you are looking for in power, the joy that disappeared in the words of books—the so-called knowledge—is all lost in yourself, and you are still searching and seeking! You can pay attention to everything outside yourself. You are lost in your thoughts, like babes in the wood.
But there is great hope that you can rise into the Heaven of thoughtless awareness, which we call Self-realization.
I invite you to this feast of Divine Bliss, which is pouring around you, even in this Kali Yuga, in these God-forsaken modern times. I hope you will come and enjoy the spiritual experience of the life eternal."
This letter and poem (below) was written by Shri Mataji in 1972 during Her first trip to America to give public programs.
To My Flower Children
You are angry with life
Like small children
Whose mother is lost in darkness.
Your sulk expressing despair
At the fruitless end of your journey.
You wear ugliness to discover Beauty.
You name everything false in the name of Truth.
You drain out emotions to fill the cup of Love.
My sweet children, my darling
How can you get peace by waging war
With yourself, with your being, with joy itself.
Enough are your efforts of renunciation.
The artificial mask of consolation.
Now rest in the petals of the lotus flower
In the lap of your gracious Mother.
I will adorn your life with beautiful blossoms
And fill your moments with joyful fragrance.
I will anoint your head with Divine Love
For I cannot bear your torture anymore.
Let me engulf you in the ocean of joy,
So you lose your being in the Greater one
Who is smiling in your calyx of self
Secretly hidden to tease you all the while.
Be aware and you will find Him
Vibrating your every fibre with blissful joy
Covering the whole Universe with light.
"Flower child originated as a synonym for the children of Billy Ray Williams and his then wife Hazel Payne Williams who made and sold paper flowers while living on Haight Street, starting in the early 1960's. The 2 older daughters, Charlotte and Victoria, wore flowers in their hair while selling the paper flowers to tourists visiting the Haight Ashbury neighborhood. It eventually became a synonym for the idealistic young people who gathered in San Francisco and environs during the 1967 Summer of Love. It was the custom of 'flower children' to wear and distribute flowers or floral-themed decorations to symbolize altruistic ideals of universal brotherhood, peace and love. The mass media picked up on the term and used it to refer in a broad sense to any hippie. Flower children were also associated with the flower power political movement, which originated in ideas written by Allen Ginsberg in 1965.
Scott McKenzie's rendition of the song 'San Francisco (Be Sure to Wear Flowers in Your Hair)' was released in May 1967. The song was written by John Phillips to promote the June 1967 Monterey Pop Festival, and it urged visitors to San Francisco to 'wear some flowers in your hair', in keeping with the festival's billing as 'three days of music, love, and flowers':
If you're going to San Francisco,
be sure to wear some flowers in your hair...
If you come to San Francisco,
Summertime will be a love-in there.
'San Francisco' became an instant hit (#4 in the United States, #1 in the U.K.) and quickly transcended its original purpose."— Wikipedia, 12 January 2012
What does Age of Aquarius mean?
"What lies ahead for Humanity? With all the problems we have, it's hard to believe our future is bright. Inflation and recession, environmental deterioration, diminishing resources, unrest and oppression in developing countries, and apathy, loneliness and lack of direction in developed ones all combine to severely cloud the horizon...
It may seem fantastic, but the signs in the heavens point to an extraordinary renewal in the years just ahead. If we recall some recent trends, this prospect doesn't seem so outlandish. It wasn't too long ago that we heard about the dawning of the Age of Aquarius, and about the revival of spirit among the new generation. We can still hear the echoes of John Kennedy's call to action and see the vision of Martin Luther King's dream. Before he and his dream were shot down in 1968, he said we as a people"Would get to the promised land."The promise seems empty now, yet the planetary cycles support his prophecy. For what we discover when we examine these cycles is compelling evidence that a renaissance and a golden age is right around the corner."
"You are probably familiar with the term New Age, and you may have heard or read about the dawning of the Age of Aquarius. This simply means that we are leaving one age (Pisces), and entering into a new one (Aquarius). This happens every two thousand years - the last one coinciding with the arrival of Christ.
What does this have to do with you? Well, it has quite a lot to do with you and everyone else on the planet. For a start, if you haven't already undergone any changes, you might be feeling the urge to change now, or you may be witnessing changes around you. Either way, you will certainly be aware that life on planet Earth seems to be going off the rails in one way or another.
This is characteristic of the changing of the Ages as people struggle to adapt to the new energies. You will also have noticed certain major developments - such as science, computers and technology, all of which are now forming the backbone of our society. UFO's, alternative medicine, astrology, vegetarianism and other subjects previously considered weird or cranky are growing rapidly in popularity, and are all subjects associated with the sign of Aquarius. These subjects will become more and more commonplace, and astrology and other 'mystical' methods of self-help and understanding will help people to become more in tune with their spiritual selves in preparation for the New Age.
People are already beginning to look within for the answers they seek, instead of outwards to money, possessions and other people. The more enlightened members of society will welcome the New Dawn with its emphasis on humanity, kindness, truth, spirituality and enlightenment."
You also probably have heard the song, Age of Aquarius," the one about the time when Jupiter aligns with Mars. Well, there's really more to it than that, as Jupiter and Mars align relatively often. What's really remarkable about this epoch is the powerful change that will sweep through our world, the shift in mood, action and intention that is already palpable. The estimated start date is thought to be sometime around the millennium, but, though its exact start date is contested among astrologers, astronomers, theologians and others, the effects of the Age of Aquarius have already been felt."The Age when everything becomes unified
"In the New Age we break free of centuries of false doctrines, destructive indoctrinations, absurd ideas, and children's stories about God, education, medicine, and love. The corrupt foundations of false society crumble. This time of crises is not the signal of the end of the world. What comes is not the end, but the beginning. The dream humanity has lived for centuries ends and we awaken to a bright new day, a bright new way.
Now in the Age of Aquarius, everything becomes unified. All our differences, all our dualities mix together like the fragrances of a flower shop, with all of the different flowers adding their bouquet to the overall mix until they are inseparable. Each individual flower remains distinct and individual, each one's fragrance is unique and discernible when you come up close to it, yet joined together in unity with the others in the wonderful mixture that is the smell of the shop.
Our individual worth comes from inside, from what we have inside, through our development, our evolution, and what we can give to society. Now our drastic differences dissolve and we integrate into the whole. We integrate and unify with the energy of the universe, with the great cosmic spirit.
Mystically, Aquarius signifies friendship. Friendship bursts upon us in its most elevated sense, in its most noble aspect — with understanding, collaboration, and fraternity. Love and friendship will have nothing to do with possessing or ego. The idea of love meaning"you belong to me"ends in the New Age. The thought of friends of convenience, friendship based on an ulterior motive such as business ends. Love and friendship based on anything other than pure love, the divine and pure love of God, changes the sentiment into a coin of exchange — you no longer have love or friendship because of who you are, but because of what you do or can do for me.
This is the era of peace, of unity, of love. The polarity of Aquarius, Leo, floods us with its complementary characteristics. The celestial throne of the Sun, Leo, encourages, ennobles, enriches, and enlightens us for the growth of our hearts, the growth of our inner beings. Together with Aquarius, Leo promotes the integration of our individuality with our unity with all humanity. We realize that we must first be something in and of ourselves to be something for others.
Under their combined influence, friendship with an agenda disappears into true fraternity, into pure unity. Then we can prepare ourselves for unity with the universal spirit... . In the Age of Aquarius, we break from the past to invent the future we desire in our society and in our person. The answers we find will be wholly new ones, totally original ones, but they require a thorough examination of what has been and what we wish to come. All our institutions as we know them must adapt to this new reality."
This Golden Age is destined to synthesize all religious regimes and free the minds of ignorance and delusion forever. Once enlightened, each human being will begin his or her individual journey within, and strive to become the new race of super conscious humans awakening seekers of Truth and the eternal Spirit, healing peoples of many tongues and nations in the process. In this new millennium there will be no more falsehoods or derision, but spiritual living and third-eye vision. The Human Family is truly entering the Age of mystic revelations and the mind's true liberation which is broadly known as spiritualism or New Millennium Religion.
But before that a word of caution about present pulse of the New Age:
The Reality and the Fakery
What is good about the New Age
"The"New Age"Is actually a synthesis of many different beliefs and currents of thought, the emphasis being on a rejection of the limitations of reductionist materialism and an emphasis on the way that one can alter one's personal reality through the application of belief, visualisation, and positive affirmation. In a sense it is a spiritual awakening, an activation of the"Theosphere", an integration of holistic healing, alternative spirituality, esotericism, environmental sensitivity, alternative life-styles, awareness of other dimensions of existence, and attunement to the cosmos.
What is bad about the New Age(and how to avoid the pitfalls)
Unfortunately, as with all such movements, the New Age has fallen prey to all manner of fakes and charlatans and rip-off merchants. These can fortunately be avoided by a simple rule of thumb. i.e.: if anyone asks you for money before giving you a mantra, cleansing your aura, raising your vibration, awakening your kundalini, taking you on a vision quest, initiating you into hermetics, or anything else, they are a fake and to be avoided like the plague... .
note regarding clairvoyants: there are many psychics and clairvoyants who ask for money for aura readings etc. Although this may seem like a fair service, remember that these people are psychics, they are not spiritual. They have an awakening into the etheric and astral (lower psychic) planes. They do not necessarily (or even) have a spiritual awakening.
This is a simple fact: a true spiritual teacher never asks for money.
Once you have this simple fact at hand, you may explore the weird and wonderful world of the New Age (or what insignificant amount there is of left of it once the profit-mongers and greed merchants are eliminated) at your leisure!
What else is bad about the New Age
Another problem that characterises the New Age is an absolute lack of critical thinking. People will believe all sorts of nonsense, and are very susceptible to negative suggestions from formations in the lower astral plane. A good example of this is the incredible popularity of the belief in catastrophic"earth changes." This has absolutely no basis in fact, and there will be a lot a red faces when the millennium rolls around and California and Japan and where-ever else hasn't sunk beneath the waves, the earth hasn't tilted on it's axis, people's DNA hasn't been miraculously transformed, etc etc
Of course, all the people who propound these prophecies will have explanations - e.g. it really did happen, but on the subtle level. Or mankind has been granted a period of grace. Or the spiritual powers changed their minds.
The best attitude that can be taken is to integrate New Age and scientific thinking, in order to get the best from both, and avoid falling into the pitfalls that comes from one-sided allegiance to either extreme."
The deep spiritual insight and knowledge of Dan Costian's (Ph.D) Bible Enlightened best describes the Age of Aquarius. His explanation of the historical significance of astrological signs that gave birth to distinct ages serves as celestial landmarks that guide to review and re-chart the future of mankind and the planet Earth.
According to him these ages are"determined by the equinox precession, were shown to last approximately two thousand years and they were called by the name of the sign of the zodiac crossed during the interval. For each and every age there corresponded an aeon, i.e. the revealing of a new divine attribute by the incarnation of a new avatar.
The Age of Gemini
The Age of Gemini (c.6000 - c.4000) corresponded to the flourishing period of early Hinduism. It was under this sign that Rama, the seventh incarnation of Vishnu was manifested by the birth of the two pair of brothers: Rama and Lakshmana on the one hand, Satrughna and Bharata on the other. Rama Himself had twin sons: Lav and Kush (in harmony with the name of the constellation where the Sun was at that time.) Lav went to Russia from this we get the name of Slav. The other son, Kush went to China, hence we get the name Kushan. These two divine principles were also incarnated as Buddha and Mahavira, then as Adi Shankaracharya and Gnyaneshwara. In other Avatars they were Hassan and Hussein the sons of Fatima and Hazrat Ali ... Rama incarnated during the Treta Yuga when the fourth chakra (Adi Anahathh) was opened in Virata. Anahathh is an important centre of the human being since it is here (on the left side, at the heart level) where the individual Spirit or the Self resides."For where your treasure is, there also will your heart be"Jesus said (Luke 12:34.)
The Age of Taurus
The Age of Taurus (c.4000 - c.2000 B.C.). The aeon governing this age was Krishna, the eight Avatar, the Lord of the cows (Govinda.) The age stayed under the sign of the bull (Apis, or sacred bull Mnevis of Helipolis, identified to Ra), of the holy cow (Hathor in Egypt, surahbhi or Kamadhenu in India or may be worshipped in many spiritual cultures), or the golden calf in the polytheistic beliefs (see Exodus 32:4), preceding the Judaic monotheism. Krishna was said to have lived at the end of Dvapara Yuga (Encyclopaedia Universalis, Paris 1968, vol. 9, p.711) considered by some to have ended in the year 3102 B.C. (Zimmer, quoted work.) According to tradition, Krishna lived in the fourth millennium B.C. (La grande encyclopedie, H. Lamirault et Co., Paris, vol. 21, p.647.) During his time the fifth chakra (Adi Vishuddhi) of the Cosmic Being was enlightened.
The Age of Aries
The Age of Aries (c.2000 - 1 B.C.) was characterized by the establishment of the monotheistic Judaism through great spiritual personalities like Abraham (19th century B.C.) and Moses (13th century B.C.). Generally, this period was dominated by the manifestation of the universal principle of the spiritual master (Adi Guru Dattatreya.) Indeed, before the Christian era, Zarathustra incarnated (7th or 6th or even 10th century according to some opinions), Confucius and Lao-Tse (6th century), Socrates (5th century), alongside with the two great Jewish prophets (see chapt. X.) The symbol of the ram (or the Passover lamb) appeared as an object of sacrifice instead of worship, as a reaction against the belief of the previous age. That could be illustrated by the cult of Mithra who stabbed the mythological bull.
The Age of Pisces
The Age of Pisces (A.D. 1 - c.2000) during which Christianity appeared and spread out. The fish was known to have been the secret sign used by the early Christians to identify each other. The Greek word Ichtus (=fish) was made up of the following phrase capitals (acrostic): Iesous Christos Theou Uios Soter (=Jesus Christ Son of God, the Saviour.) In Hinduism it was also the symbol of the Saviour (Vishnu's first incarnation in the shape of a fish saved Manu from the flood)...
Similar to Mahavishnu, Jesus represented the ninth Avatar, who opened the Agnya chakra within the Cosmic Being. The reflection of this chakra at the microcosmic human level is situated in the centre of the forehead where the left channel (Ida nadi) and the right channel (Pingala nadi) form a subtle crossing. From an anatomical point of view, this is the place of:
- i) the chiasma opticalis (optical nerve crossing), corresponding to the anterior aspect of the chakra (front Agnya);
- ii) the decussatio pyramidum (crossing of the motor nuclei fibres of the spinal nerves for the upper limb and upper trunk and for the lower limb and lower trunk respectively), corresponding to the posterior aspect of the chakra (back Agnya.)
The three channels cross at the Agnya which represents the most narrow way for the Kundalini to pass through. It is the"narrow gate"that Jesus said about: "Strive with earnestness to enter through the narrow door, for many, I say, will seek to enter and will not be able" (Luke 13:24.)"Enter through the narrow gate" (Matthew 7:13.) Jesus revealed Himself as the Master of the Agnya chakra: "I am the door; if any one enter in by Me, he shall be saved" (John 10.9.) He will be saved because he will be able to reach the end, of the spiritual ascent, Sahasrara (the Kingdom of Heavens the synthesis of all chakras, where the individual Spirit joins with the Universal Spirit - God.)
The Mahabharata (14.2784) says that the gate of heaven is very small and narrow. It cannot be seen by those without any sense and blinded by the vain illusions of this world. Even those who can see well, who see the way and want to enter, will find the door locked and hard to open. Its heavy bolts are pride, lust, greed and debauchery. Jesus said to the Pharisees: "The kingdom of God does not come with observation" (Luke 17:20.) Schmemaan wrote: "For the early Christians the all-encompassing reality and the terrific newness of their belief was precisely that the Kingdom had drawn near and though unseen, it had already been there, among the people, illuminating and working in the world."
The Agnya chakra controls mental processes. Maitrayana Upanishad says (6:34) that the thoughts are the only cause of the cycle of birth and death; man, therefore should endeavour to purify his thoughts. A man is what he thinks: this is the ancient secret. The same idea was expressed by Guatama Buddha in the first line of the Dhammapada: All that we are is the result of what we have thought, is based on our thoughts, and made out of our thoughts. That is why Yogis attach such a great importance to thought detachment and getting into the"thoughtless awareness"or Nirvichara Samadhi; the real state of meditation enabling the union (Yoga.)
The Age Of Aquarius
The Age of Aquarius (c.2000 ) starts at the dawn of Satya Yuga. The beginning of this age was estimated by various calculations around the year 2000. Some astrologers believe that mankind will step out of the mystical age of Pisces right into the luminous age of Aquarius between 2000 and 2050, which means the end of superstitions and of dogmatic religions (apud Bruno Wurtz.) It is not without interest to go back to the Ahmadiya Movement of Islam speaking about Mahdi's appearance on the Earth. We shall quote here Gibb and Kramer (Shorter Encyclopaedia of Islam, p.24): "To believe in His as the Second or the Promised Messiah is an article of faith, because first of all His coming early in the 14th century of the Hidjra was predicted by Muhammad."Or, Hidjra (Hegira), the starting point of the Muhammadan period was the 20th of September, 622 and that gives us the date close to the end of the year 1922 maybe the beginning of the year 1923 for the start of the new era.
Now, there is a brief extract giving the evolution of the heavy planets towards this end of the millennium.
Pluto, the mightiest of the planets, is the master of Scorpio until the beginning of the year 1995 and afterwards it will enter Sagittarius. It awakens the old demons to exorcize them completely and this cleansing will bring all the mud from the depths to the surface. The energy will serve to purify man, if it is well used; being perverted it will turn against him. Pluto in Scorpio indicates a token of life, death, rebirth. Then, it will enter Sagittarius, symbol of superior spirit, of metaphysical abstraction, of fundamental seeking.
The other three heavy planets will leave one after another Capricornus to enter Aquarius: Saturn in 1991, Uranus in 1996 and Neptune in 1999 indicating the entering of mankind into the age of Aquarius, generating a new awareness, a new spiritual order (apud Christian Kursner.)
In 1996 Uranus will enter Aquarius whose master it is. Thus, the dominion of materialism and selfishness will come to an end, leading at the same time towards a new society characterized by benevolence and universal integration. This will means the abolishing of the old concepts and the vanishing of any physical and spiritual frontiers. But beware! The entering of Jupiter alongside Uranus into the sign of Aquarius (1996-1997), may mean the outburst of the divine wrath against those that overlook its authority as well as those that disturb the divine order of the world.
The astrologer Alain considered that the age of Aquarius started in 1962. In Benjamin Creme's opinion, the beginning of this age would be in the spring of 1982, and according to others in 1987. Creme even asserted that Christ's new Avatar manifested Himself among us since 1977. The famous psychologist Carl Gustav Jung (1875-1961) considered that this age would start in 1997 (Bruno Wurtz, New Age, Ed. de Vest, Timisoara 1992.) Shri Mataji Nirmala Devi announced that Satya Yuga has started in 1993 on the vernal equinox ...
If Pisces is a sign of water, Aquarius is much more so. Considering the last ages of the cycle, the transition from the zodiacal names of mammals to those of the aquatic beings can be interpreted as the tendency of returning to the Primordial Ocean along the regressive branch of the ellipse, meaning the absorption (dissolution) back into the Original Atom from where the cycle had started.
We remember that Jesus is the Beginning and the End, the Alpha and the Omega. He is to descend for the second time as Kalki, the 10th and last Avatar of the Evolution Principle, thereby being the aeon under which the Age of Aquarius is placed. J. Carmignac gave an interpretation of the manuscripts found beside the Dead Sea, in which he identified"The Teacher of Righteousness" (Faith) with"The One who pours the rain of Righteousness" (Faith.) Many authors are known to have considered Jesus as being none other than the Teacher of Righteousness (see, for instance, I.D. Amusin's quoted work.) Jesus was the one to announce the Age of Aquarius: "A man will meet you carrying an earthen pitcher of water; follow him into the house where he goes in" (Luke 22:10; Mark 14:13.) The Last Supper was the symbol of the future"unio mystica."
Sahasrara is the final point of the spiritual ascent, the Kingdom of Heavens
The cusp of time that has elapsed and the time that is still to come represents the apotheosis of the divine revelation, the opening of the seventh, therefore, the last chakra (Adi Sahasrara) of the Universal Being, the crowning of the whole evolutionary process."In the days of the voice of the seventh angel, when he is about to sound the trumpet, the mystery of God also shall be completed" (Revelation 10:7.)"The Omega point symbolises the end of the evolution towards the noosphere, the sphere of the spirit, towards which all knowledge converges" (Chevalier, Gheerbrant, p.26.) Sahasrara is the final point of the spiritual ascent, the Kingdom of Heavens. When asked by the Pharisees where the Kingdom of God lies, Jesus replied: "They shall not say, Lo here, or, Lo there; for behold, the Kingdom of God is in the midst of you" (Luke 17:21.)
The opening of the Sahasrara at the level of the whole Creation, allowed for the awakening of the Kundalini energy en masse through Sahaja Yoga, which has been revealed to the whole mankind by Shri Mataji Nirmala Devi, who witnessed that cosmic phenomenon Herself. The Adi Sahasrara was opened on May 5th, 1970. Scriptures foretold the collective manifestation of the Holy Spirit in the form of the Kundalini: "In the last days, saith God, I will pour out of My Spirit upon all flesh" (Acts 2:17.) This prophecy was announced long time ago by Isaiah (44:3), Ezekiel (36:27), Joel (2:28-29), Zechariah (2:10.)"I will give wonders in the heaven above and the signs on the earth below" (Acts 2:19; see Joel 2:30 too.) The wonder in the heaven was the opening of the cosmic Sahasrara."Then, whatsoever shall call upon the name of [the] Lord shall be saved" (Acts 2:21; Joel 2:32.) Of course, it refers to the activation of the kundalini by taking mantras, a fact that is well-known by the Yogis.
Water of life pouring upon the people (the Kundalini), of the Spirit, of the Holy Ghost
The Age of Aquarius is interpreted as the water of life pouring upon the people (the Kundalini), of the Spirit, of the Holy Ghost, in sign of harmony between the human microcosm and the divine macrocosm, of really attained"unio mystica" (Yoga.) But for this to take place, it is necessary that man should become Adam who had been created by God, as a divine embodiment"In His image" (Genesis 1:27; see also 5:1.) Because, as John said about the last coming of the Saviour: "What we shall be had not been manifested; we shall know that if it is manifested we shall be like Him, for we shall see Him as He is. And every one that has this hope in Him purifies himself even as He is pure" (1 John 3:2-3.) In other words, man has to deify himself and that implies the purification at the energetic level, allowing for Kundalini to achieve the mystical union. At the human level, this purification will make the enlightenment possible ...
Levi H. Dowling (1844-1911) had transmitted ... by revelation the Aquarian Gospel of Jesus, the Christ of the Piscean Age (L.N. Fowler & Co. Ltd., Romford, Essex) ... Among Dowling's manuscripts there was one called"The Cusp of the Ages"describing the transfer of dominion from the Piscean Age to the Aquarian Age. It was published by Eva S. Dowling in the introduction to this gospel. Here is the description of the new era.
"This age will be an age of splendour and of light, because it is the home of the Holy Breath; and the Holy Breath will testify anew for Christ, the Logos of the eternal Love. At first of every age this Logos is made manifest in flesh so man can see and know and comprehend a Love that is not narrow, circumscribed. Twelve times in every revolution of the sun this christed Love of God is made full manifest in flesh upon the planes of earth, and you may read it in Akasha the wondrous lessons that these Christs have taught to man" (p.15.)
The gospel described the beginning of the Aquarian (= the one that bears the pitcher of water) Age as follows: "And then the man who bears the pitcher will walk across an arc of heaven. The sign and signet of the Son of man stands forth in the eastern sky. The wise will then lift up their heads and know that the redemption of the earth is near" (157.29,30.) And the accompanying footnote (within the French edition; our translation) explained: "From the beginning of this age, i.e. from this moment on, more and more people will try to understand the spirit of the Gospel instead of merely following its text. When the largest part of the human race has been penetrated by this spirit, to which this book makes its contribution, mankind will undoubtedly be in the Aquarian Age. That's why the Aquarian Gospel was given its present title."
What is the Millennium all about?
As the so called 20th century draws to a close there is much talk about specific dates, unprecedented change and end of Millennium prophecies, all of which can be a bit confusing.
Yet as we count down the final days and seconds we are reminded that time is an exceedingly relative, man made concept.
For example:— as the Christian world clock hits the year 2000, the Millennium on the Julian calendar, the Islamic world clock will be chiming 1421 years on the Hegerian-Hijri calendar. For the Sikh-Gurumat tradition it is perhaps only year 531 and within the Judaic tradition the clock will be running at 5,760-61 years. Yet, in the Buddhist world we will be reaching about 2500 years and in the Mayan tradition of South America we will have clocked up 5114 years. For the Parsi tradition of Zarathustra from ancient Persia we might be approaching 2900 years whilst from the beginning of recorded time in the Chinese tradition it will read 4,637 years. In the ancient Indian tradition the tendency is all together different where there is the adoption of a more cyclic view of time, of yuga's (ages), of cycles of birth & death. Even so, certain patterns from various traditions do seem to be emerging as follows:
Consensus indicates that we are coming out of what the Indian tradition names Kali Yuga (this is the age of darkness/ignorance) and are on the verge of entering the Satya Yuga (the age of truth) when all falsehood will expose itself and drop away. The Yuga which links these two Yugas is named Krita Yuga ( Age of transition.)
From the Western Astrological perspective this seems to correspond with the understanding that we are transiting from the Piscean Age to the Age of Aquarius. The onset of the Aquarian Age speaks to us of spiritual awakenings, of the perfection of each human being, through an awareness of our own spiritual self. The time of rebirth and great spiritual development on earth. All this heralding a time of much greater joy and positivity.
A period of great happiness or human perfection
Yet in the Christian tradition the generally accepted idea is that the Millennium starts around the year 2000. Websters 9th Collegiate Dictionary, USA, 1983 gives a definition as follows:-"The 1000 years mentioned in the Book of Revelation, chapter 20 during which Holiness is to prevail. A period of great happiness or human perfection."
In the Islamic tradition there are many instances where the Holy Koran and the Hadith mention a future time of judgement & resurrection, known as the Qiyamah time. In the traditions of the prophet this time is indicated as coming some time after 1400 years (of the Hijri calendar), which again seems to coincide with the coming Millennium & twenty first century.
For Buddhists there is some expectation that the Wheel of Dharma, the metaphorical wheel of time is set to turn for the first time in 2500 years since Lord Buddha's advent. Gautama Buddha apparently taught that each revolution of the wheel signalled a new beginning, or rebirth for humanity.
From the Book of Prophecies of the Knight John of Jerusalem (11th Century) comes the following: "The millennium that comes after this millennium will change into a light time. People will love and share and dream, and dreams will come true."Further it adds: "People will be one big body of which every person is a tiny part. Together they'll be the heart and they'll speak one language." "Men will have reached heaven" "Men will know the Spirit of all things" "People will receive a second birth and the Spirit will come into them."
Ancient Sibylline Oracles of the Roman era perhaps also add to the collective vision of what the future may hold...for example"Vice shall leave the earth and be sunk in the divine ocean"
The Divine Feminine: The Mother of the Millennium
The many forms of THE DIVINE MOTHER So what does the past say about the present? Well in short-many things. What is intriguing is the faint echo from the past which informs us of a hitherto unsuspected phenomenon, namely the coming of a feminine spiritual personality, a Mother, who will facilitate a collective rebirth. Here are some selected references which allude to this happening!
In a book published in 1887 titled"The Mystery of the Ages"by Marie, Countess of Caithness (Page 316-317) the following prediction appears:-"It was generally considered, at the turn of the next century, that the next Divine incarnation was about to come to earth and would be female, the advent of Divine Wisdom, or Theo-Sophia, and that the present age would be the age of making known all that which has been kept secret from the beginning."
This is an extract from the Nadigranth compiled by Mr Shantaram Athvale. The Nadigranth was originally written in Sanskrit 2000 years back by the ancient astrologer Bhrigumuni and later updated & translated into Marathi and titled the Kak Nadi by Kakayyar Bhujander who was a great astrologer and seeker who lived nearly 300 years ago in India. In this particular extract Shantaram Athvale refers to the writings from Kak Nadi written by Kakayyar Bhujander:
"While Jupiter is in Pisces a great Yogi will incarnate on the Earth. By 1970 it will have become quite evident to many people that a new era will have started. Human life will undergo a complete revolution. This Yogi will be the Incarnation of Parabrahma and will have all the divine powers.
By the new method of yoga devised by the great Yogi, human beings will be able to attain the joy of Moksha within one lifetime. While living ordinary lives people will achieve Yoga—Union with God. In the end all the nations of the world will come together with the feeling of oneness. There will be a great international conference in a big city of the world. The whole of the humanity will understand the importance of prayer and all the nations will unite together.
Due to new scientific discoveries science and religions would become one. With the help of science the existence of God and the Soul could be proved. The veil of ignorance and Maya would be drawn aside and Brahmananda, Moksha which could previously only be attained by yogis as a result of very hard work and severe penance would become easily available to many human beings."
William Blake (28 Nov 1757-12 Aug 1827) gives us this prophetic poem titled"To Morning."Seemingly it is an invocation to what he perceived as the feminine aspect of the Divine, whom would facilitate the dawning of a new age and the unlocking of Heaven on Earth.
"O Holy Virgin, Clad in purest white Unlock heaven's golden gates and issue forth Awake the dawn that sleeps, that sleeps in heaven Let light rise from the chambers of the East"
C.S Lewis (1898-1963) in his book the Great Divorce describes some kind of approaching procession of great joyousness."If I could remember their singing and write down the notes, no man who read that score would ever grow sick or old. Between them went musicians: and after this a lady in whose honour this was being done"And"Every young man or boy that met her became her son"further"Every girl that met her became her daughter"And"There are those that steal other peoples children. But her motherhood was of a different kind. Those on whom it fell went back to their natural parents loving them more. In her they became themselves. And now the abundance of life she has in Christ from the Father flows over into them."and also..."Redeemed humanity is still young, it has hardly come to its full strength. But already there is joy enough in the little finger of a great saint such as yonder lady to waken all the dead things in the universe to life."
The R.S.V. Christian Bible, Revelation, chapter 12, verse 1, tells us prophetically of a marvellous event to come, of a sign, of a woman."And a great portent appeared in heaven a woman clothed with the sun with the moon under her feet and on her head a crown of twelve stars."
In the Prophecies of John of Jerusalem an 11th century knight we read the following regarding 'The Mother' and the coming Millennium time."She will be a great Master of the future times....." "She will be The Mother of the Millennium that comes after the Millennium." "After the days of the devil She will make the softness of a Mother flow. g) In the Christian Gnostic Gospel of Thomas this mysterious divine feminine power is alluded to in verse 101 as:-"My mother gave me birth My true Mother gave me Life"
The Essene Gospel of Peace, Book 1 (Page 7), speaks of this feminine aspect of the divine as being an inner life force, as something to be realised."Your Mother is in you, and you in her, She gives you life."
In ancient writings of the Bible and also Gnostic records...the energy now known to many today as Kundalini energy is called by various names such as: Sophia, Life, Mother of the living or Wisdom. This force called Wisdom is likened to a feminine energy, and even a feminine personality ........ named as She and Her. In these writings the words; She...Her ...Wisdom & Holy Spirit are used interchangeably to refer to this feminine aspect of the Divine. Also later known in Christian texts as the Holy Ghost, Comforter, Counsellor and Redeemer.
And what of Sophia, of Wisdom, of the Holy Spirit, Comforter, Counsellor, Redeemer?
From the ancient Wisdom of Solomon written some 2500 years back we read: Chapter 6, Verse, 12-17: 6.12-"Wisdom is radiant and unfading and she is easily discerned (recognised) by those who love her, and is found by those who seek her. 6.13-She hastens to make herself known to those who desire her. ..... and 6.16-She goes about seeking those worthy of her, and she graciously appears to them in their paths, and meets them in every thought.
7. 22-24-For in her there is a spirit that is intelligent, holy, unique, manifold, unpolluted, distinct, invulnerable, loving the good, dynamic (keen), irresistible, beneficent, humane, steadfast, sure, free from anxiety, all-powerful, overseeing all, and penetrating through all spirits .........................that are intelligent and pure and most subtle.
7.24-For wisdom is more mobile than any motion; because of her pureness.... she pervades and penetrates all things. . 7.25-For she is a breath (wind) of the power of God, and a pure emanation of the glory of the almighty; therefore nothing defiled gains entrance into her.
7.26-For she is a reflection of eternal light, and a spotless mirror of the working of God, and an image of his goodness.
7.27-Though she is but one, she can do all things, and while remaining in herself, she renews all things; in every generation she passes into holy souls and makes them friends of God, and prophets:
7.28-For God loves nothing so much as the man who lives with wisdom.
7.29-For she is more beautiful than the sun, and excels every constellation of the stars. Compared with the light she is found to be superior,....
8.1-She reaches mightily from one end of the earth to the other, and she orders all things well.
8. 4-For she is an initiate in the knowledge of God,
8.5-If riches are a desirable possession in life what is richer than wisdom, who effects all things?
8.6-And if understanding is effective, who more than she who is the fashioner of what exists?
8.8-And if any one longs for wide experience, she knows the things of old, and infers the things to come; she understands turns of speech and solutions to (life's) riddles she has foreknowledge of signs and wonders and the outcomes of seasons and times.
8.16-When I enter my house, (the body/ temple) I shall find rest with her, for companionship with her has no bitterness, and life with her has no pain, but (is)gladness and joy.
8. 17-18-For in kinship with wisdom there is immortality and in friendship with her....pure delight and in labour's of her hands, unfailing wealth, and in experience of her company, understanding and renown in sharing her words.
9.11-For she knows and understands all things,...
And what of Sophia, of Wisdom, of the Holy Spirit, Comforter, Counsellor, Redeemer? Well people say She is here, residing within each and everyone of us as a sleeping potential, an inner life force, known widely as the Kundalini energy. This unique energy resides in the sacrum (sacred) bone. It is said that She can be awakened if one truly desires it so. It sounds like a dream but that's what this music seeks to proclaim and celebrate. Further it is said that the one who resurrects this inner Divine Life Force, en-masse, is the Divine Mother, Goddess, Holy Spirit, who is verily a Comforter, Counsellor, Redeemer.
"She hastens to make herself known to those who desire her."
This inner living resurrection can be enjoyed every day, and each second by those who experience it. What's more, it is celebrated globally on the anniversary of the opening of the Sahasrara. The Sahasrara is the universal energy centre located at the crown of the head, at the fontanelle, the seventh chakra or highest centre of consciousness, known otherwise as the thousand petalled lotus. It is through this last centre that one is able to connect with the all pervading universal divine"that is." On the day it was opened on a cosmic level it is said that the whole atmosphere was filled with tremendous chaitanya (divine life force energy-vibrations) and there was tremendous light in the sky, and the whole thing came on the Earth. Since that day, thousands upon thousands of seekers from every nation have crossed paths with the one who 'delivers the goods'. For as the Ancient Wisdom of Solomon promises: Verse 6. 12 —"Wisdom is radiant and unfading and she is easily discerned by those who love her, and is found by those who seek her." "She hastens to make herself known to those who desire her."and."..she goes about seeking those worthy of her, and she graciously appears to them in their paths, and meets them in every thought. Hence the song lyrics: "She was also in your City. Haven't you heard?"
Every year since 1970, the moment when the last centre in our evolutionary assent was opened, great celebrations have been taking place with people gathering from every nation & religious tradition somewhere on the world stage. And the day of commemoration—May 5th. Hence, it was a big surprise to find some predictions regarding this particular day, May 5th, for the year 2000, the so called Millennium year.
The Fernbank Science Centre Planetarium of Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia, USA have carried out various assessments and concluded that there will be a line-up of planets (heavenly bodies) in the next Millennium. Such line-ups may have only the subtlest of effects upon our lives, so no armageddon type scenarios, please. In short various planets; Mercury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter and Saturn, and the Sun and the new Moon will come into alignment with Earth, in a most unique conjunction or union. Momentarily being connected along invisible gravitational lines of energy. Like a cosmic string of pearls. Perhaps this will be a particularly auspicious day. And when? On the precise date of May 5th, 2000. This is mentioned only to spark curiosity, to lead the attention onward, to activate the seeking and questing faculty, to stimulate the desire to know, feel and experience the eternal. Everyone can do it..... if they wish!
All this excitement about the so called Millennium may lead us in the wrong directions. The Millennium isn't a one moment event, if anything it more clearly represents a dawning. As a seed sprouts and promises new growth, so we might look upon the idea of the Millennium. After all, this time business is in essence just a man made concept, and perhaps not too much should be made of it. In any event it is commonly debated that the Julian (Christian calendar) is only accurate to about plus or minus seven years. (So the Millennium could really be anywhere between 1993-2007).
Hence, some say, it is best to stay in the present and tap into that inner state beyond time, the fifth dimension, accessible by achieving a state of 'thoughtless awareness' at the Sahasrara chakra.....otherwise known as the Turiya State or Eternity.
"Oh! Mother, let my mind awake slowly on the Sacred Shore of the sea"
Rabindranath Tagore (1861-1941), who was awarded the Nobel prize for literature in 1913 makes the following plea:-"Oh! Mother, let my mind awake slowly on the Sacred Shore of the sea, where great souls of the world have come together to offer their pranams. Here with outstretched hands we bow-down to the Divine in human form. In bounteous poetry and in great joy we adore thee. Behold here oh seeker! The mountain of meditation with rivers resounding and dancing to the solemn music of heaven. Adore here your Sacred Mother Earth where great souls have come together on the seashore to offer their pranams. Come oh! Aryans, come non Aryans, come Hindus and Muslims. Come come oh Englishmen, come Christians, come oh Brahmins purify your heart, hold the hands of the down-trodden and out-castes. Remove all ills and disrespect. Come quickly for the coronation (annointing) of The Mother," Blossomtime is indeed here! This is the season!
Question: Shri Mataji, would you say a few words about the golden age? The forthcoming golden age?
"You see, Aquarius, as they say, Aquarius according to our astrology is the Kundalini. The Kundalini is Aquarius according to Indian, I should say, Indian science of Astrology.
And, you see, they, what they say that this age of Aquarius is very important, because this will change the lives of people. And that is what they have already described about this, that now there was Kali Yuga, means the worst possible times. The whole Kali Yuga means the absolutely the worst and worst possible time for our destruction. That was over. Then comes Kruta Yuga, I mean, overlapping. Now, in Kruta Yuga, this all-pervading power, they call it Paramchaitanya, becomes active. It starts helping people to come along. That also has been going on some days.
After this, is Satya Yuga. It's the age of truth. But it's a Last Judgement. If you take to truth, alright, well and good. But if you don't take to truth you are judged. It's like this."
"If we have to change this world, and if we have to save our people from complete destruction, we have to take to wisdom, and that is only possible when the brain is enlightened by Kundalini. This is what is very important today, when we see that this world is on the verge of destruction. Of course the Creator Himself is very anxious to save us and that is why He has in these modern times which are called Kali Yuga, made the All-pervading power activated.
So, now a New Age has started which is called the Age of Aquarius, meaning the pitcher carrier of spiritual holy water that is the work of Kundalini. The activity of the Kundalini is like the sap of the tree that rises and nourishes all parts of the tree and does not get stuck at one flower (religion).
Moreover these are special times. This is the Resurrection Time. The Last Judgment is done by the Kundalini. On the fingertips one can feel oneself and can judge oneself. Moreover the All-pervading power has become very activated, so the Kali Yuga (present Age of Darkness) is passing into Krita Yuga of Brahma Chaitanya (activated All-pervading power). This is helping the en-masse enlightenment and Self realisation.
After this will be Satya Yuga (Age of Truth). We have to take advantage of this activity of the Brahma Chaitanya by all the time being corrected with the All-pervading Power and achieving our realisation and establishing it. After such a state a person becomes very dynamic and compassionate. His race, sex, nationality and age do not hamper his dynamic life.
There are so many blessings in Sahaja Yoga that it is impossible to compile them into a book as it would require volumes and volumes to assemble the experiences of the Sahaja Yogis.
Whatever one is doing now is relative in this modern world. In relative terms, everything is working it out. This relative working is not going to give any absolute results. Absolute knowledge only comes from the Spirit, and so unless we know the Self, the Spirit, we cannot know what is absolute and what is Absolute Truth. Otherwise, when we live in the relative world we will be always quarrelling, fighting and having wars. But if one is in the Absolute then one knows that there is only one Truth for everything, and there will be no more argument or discussion; everybody will enjoy that Truth as it is Absolute."
"Spirituality constitutes a sign of the jarring transition ... from an expiring Age of Belief into a new but not yet fully realized Age of the Spirit."
"As in the past, today 'spirituality' can mean a range of different things. At a minimum, it evokes an ambiguous self-reflection devoid of content. For some it can become mere navel gazing, a retreat from responsibility in a needy world. Sleek ads in glossy magazines promise a weekend of 'spiritual renewal' in a luxurious spa where, for a price, one can reap the benefits of a sauna, a pedicure, and a guru who will help you cope with the stress of your demanding job. For others, however, 'spirituality' can mean a disciplined practice of meditation, prayer, or yoga that can lead to deepened engagement in society. A researcher named Seth Wax recently gathered 105 interviews of self-described 'spiritual' people in eight different professional fields. He found that what most of them thought of as their 'spirituality' actually enhanced their sense of responsibility in their work and in society by giving them a larger goal or by helping them to concentrate on doing a good job. It is evident that different forms of 'spirituality' can lead to either self-indulgence or a deepened social engagement, but so can institutional religion.
Recent studies have shown that the conflict between the religious and the spiritual, even between the spiritual and the secular, are not as sharp as some have supposed. People today can move back and forth from one to the other with little sense of contradiction. They carry 'spiritual' attitudes and practices into the congregations and religious values into the secular world. They develop what researchers call 'repertoires' that include elements from all of these overlapping spheres and are able to negotiate continuously among them. Clerical leaders often object to what seems like the blurring of important distinctions, but the process is making the borders between the religious, the spiritual, and the secular more permeable.
How does the spectacular growth of megachurches like Saddleback and Willow Creek figure into this new picture? Entering Saddleback church, with its large TV screens, piped music, coffee bars, and choice of different music 'tents,' is more like strolling into a mall than stepping into a cathedral. Its architectural logic is horizontal, not vertical. The line between inside and outside is almost erased. There are now more than four hundred of these churches, with congregations of ten thousand or more. They are not fundamentalist. Their real secret is that they are honeycombs of small groups, hundreds of them, for study, prayer, and action. Sociologist Robert Wuthnow estimates that 40 percent of all adult Americans belong to one or another of a variety of small groups both in and out of churches, and that many join them because they are searching for community and are 'interested in deepening their spirituality.' He adds that these small groups are 'redefining the sacred ... by replacing explicit creeds and doctrines with implicit norms devised by the group.' Although he expresses some hesitation about this soft-peddling of theology, he nonetheless concludes that many people who grew up in a religious tradition now 'feel the need for a group with whom they can discuss their religious values. As a result ... they feel closer to God, better able to pray ... and more confident that they are acting according to spiritual principles that emphasize love, forgiveness, humility and self-acceptance.'
The recent rapid growth of charismatic congregations and the appeal of Asian spiritual practices demonstrate that, as in the past once again today, large numbers of people are drawn more to the experiential than to the doctrinal elements of religion. Once again, this often worries religious leaders who have always fretted about mysticism. Echoing age-old suspicions, for example, the Vatican has warned Catholics against the dangers of attending classes on yoga. Still, it is important to notice that virtually all current 'spiritual' movements and practices are derived, either loosely or directly, from one of the historic religious traditions. In addition, just as in the past offshoots that the church condemned were eventually welcomed back into The Mother's household, the same is happening today. In India and Japan Catholic monks sit cross-legged practicing Asian spiritual disciplines. In America, people file into church basements for tai-chi classes. Challenged by the lure of Asian practices, Benedictine monks have begun teaching lay people 'centering prayer,' a contemplative discipline that not so long ago church authorities viewed with distrust.
'Spirituality' can mean a host of things, but there are three reasons why the term is in such wide use. First, it is still a form of tacit protest. It reflects a widespread discontent with the preshrinking of 'religion,' Christianity in particular, into a package of theological propositions by the religious corporations that box and distribute such packages. Second, it represents an attempt to voice the awe and wonder before the intricacy of nature that many feel is essential to human life without stuffing them into ready-to-wear ecclesiastical patterns. Third, it recognizes the increasingly porous borders between the different traditions and, like the early Christian movement, it looks more to the future than to the past. The question remains whether emerging new forms of spirituality will develop sufficient ardor for justice and enough cohesiveness to work for it effectively. Nonetheless, the use of the term 'spirituality' constitutes a sign of the jarring transition through which we are now passing, from an expiring Age of Belief into a new but not yet fully realized Age of the Spirit.
This three-stage profile of Christianity helps us understand the often confusing religious turmoil going on around us today. It suggests that what some people dismiss as deviations or unwarranted innovations are often retrievals of elements that were once accepted features of Christianity, but were discarded somewhere along the way. It frees people who shape their faith in a wide spectrum of ways to understand themselves as authentically Christian, and it exposes fundamentalism for the distortion it is.
There is little to lament about the present decline of fundamentalism. The word itself was coined in the first decade of the twentieth century by Protestant Christians who compiled a list of theological beliefs on which there could be no compromise. Then they adamantly announced that they would defend these 'fundamentals' against new patterns that were already emerging in Christianity. The conflict often became intense. In 1922 Reverend Harry Emerson Fosdick (1878—1969) preached a famous sermon entitled 'Shall the Fundamentalists Win?' It seemed for a few decades that, indeed, they might. But now they are on the defensive. The old struggle continues, and their reduction of faith to beliefs persists. But since the emerging Age of the Spirit is more similar to the first Age of Faith than it is to the Age of Belief, the contest today goes on under different conditions. The atmosphere today is more like that of early Christianity than like what obtained during the intervening millennium and a half of the Christian empire."

The New Cosmic Period
"We are living in an era signified by the beginning of a New Cosmic Period that many people call New Age or the Age of Aquarius. Some others may call it the Age of the Second Coming or of the Epiphany of the Holy Spirit.
The characteristics of this new state are becoming more and more visible as rhythm of life is accelerating rapidly along with the concern for the events that reveal a universal crisis. There is a constant wavering uncertainty and confusion for what the future holds for humanity that seems to live the anxiety and pain of a New Birth. We find ourselves at the Prodromic Phase, at the dawn of this New Period, which is defined as a period of preparation, catharsis and repentance. In other words, a shifting of the mind from limited established ideas to Ideas of Divine Infinity and Truth. The inspired revelations of the Scriptures and the unveiling of the Divine Laws is only one of the examples of activating a universal phenomenon on a spiritual quest which will lead to the enlightenment of Humanity, as was written two thousand years ago. And it shall come to pass in the last days, saith God, I will pour out of my Spirit upon all flesh: and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams.' (Acts 2:17).
There are three principal Cosmic Periods in the human evolutionary course. The Prophetic Period or Age of Aries, where many enlightened teachers prepared humanity and during which the Will of the Father God was manifested by the Prophets. Next, there was the Cosmic Period of the Incarnation of the Logos Christ, of the New Testament, when the Will of God was manifested directly by Christ Himself, the Son of God, the Ever Perfect, who came down from Heaven in order to complete and expand what had been presented up until that time as Divine Law. He did that through the teaching of 'Love One Another'.
Today, approximately two thousand years later - that is how long a Cosmic Periodlasts - we have entered into the era where the second part of the Christian revelation is taking place. It is a time that Love and Unity prevail on the planet and the Spirit prevails over the material.
That is, the time of the Second Coming of Christ within the souls of men, the time for the Christofication and The ofication of Man, the time for his return to Father God, as the words of Christ revealed, 'Through Me to the Father'. We find ourselves in the Age of the Epiphany of the Holy Spirit, of the Paraclete, as Christ Himself said just before His departure, 'Howbeit, when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak on his own; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will show you things to come.' (John 16, 13), at the age of the revelation and ascent of the Woman-Soul, or as some people call it, the Age of Aquarius. A characteristic of the Age of Aquarius is realignments and changes in all areas of Human thought and life, which bring an optimistic message to man: the Perfection of man and his Divine Communion in the Kingdom of Heavens, His Christofication and The ofication.
At the Last Supper, where Christ gave Holy Communion to his disciples as a trust of activation of His Essence within them, the Mystery took place in a specially selected residence according to the scriptures. The Last Supper for the disciples was not just a foretaste of their fulfillment in the Kingdom of God, but it also showed explicitly that they were allowed to sit at the table of the Father as Sons of God, something which was corroborated by previous orations of Christ who said, 'You are gods.' (John10:34) and 'Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect.' (Matthew 5:48), thus showing the magnitude of the Divine Lineage and Divine Predestination of Man.
We know that the time and the place where each event unfolds play an important role in the interpretation of the symbols in the Scriptures. So, where does the Mystery of Holy Communion take place? The answer is given in Christ's instruction to His disciples when they ask Him where to prepare the meal. As the Gospel according to Luke reports, And he said unto them, Behold when ye are entered into the city, there shalla man meet you, bearing a pitcher of water; follow him into the house where he entereth in.' (Luke 22:10). The man who holds the pitcher of water is the symbol of Aquarius and the house symbolizes the period during which all of humanity will receive the same Holy Communion, which the disciples received at the Last Supper."
The New Cosmic Period
"The topic of 'The Age of Aquarius' usually brings forth in one's mind many images and questions of what this Age really is. Following several decades of popularization, the term 'quarian Age' has often been used as a cliche in popular culture. Presently, almost any topic related to esotericism or mysticism is coined as 'New Age' (referring to the New Age of Aquarius). In society today we have 'New Age groups', 'New Age book stores', 'New Age music', etc. In lieu of all the stereotypes associated with this term, however, it is important to know the historical facts associated with the Age of Aquarius and to understand its inner meaning...
Aquarius, however, is an eminently revolutionary sign, and its occult significance is knowledge. The constellation of Aquarius is governed by the planet Uranus, which is a completely revolutionary planet. The sign of Aquarius shows a man with two pitchers of water who is wisely combing these waters. The doctrine of the Age of Aquarius is thus termed the 'Doctrine of the Synthesis', the synthesis of all authentic religions and systems of self-realization. In the Aquarian Age dogmatic types of Christianity will cease to be taught, and all dogmatic forms will disappear. In this age science will become religious, and religion will become scientific. Disagreements between science and religion will come to an end, and people will begin to comprehend that both spirit and matter are derived from the same source, and are only modifications of the One Universal Energy."
